Expected Project Start: September 2026
About The Dig Company
The Dig Company is the excavation, grading, and site-development subsidiary of Halligan&Moreno. We provide reliable, hands-on solutions for commercial and residential construction projects, including excavation, clearing, grading, drainage, compaction, and final site preparation.
As a Halligan&Moreno company, we believe quality work is built through stewardship, integrity, and dedication. We take pride in doing things the right way, caring for the equipment entrusted to us, and leaving every jobsite better than we found it.
About Station 343
The Dig Company is supporting the construction of Station 343, a new Halligan facility named in honor of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
This role will directly support the site-development phase of the project. The Heavy Equipment Operator will help prepare the property for construction through excavation, grading, material movement, compaction, and related earthwork activities.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, experienced with heavy machinery, and willing to assist with general jobsite needs when equipment operation is not required.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with project plans and supervisor direction.

  • Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections.
  • Report mechanical issues, maintenance needs, safety concerns, and jobsite hazards promptly.
  • Keep equipment cabs, work areas, and access paths clean and organized.
  • Coordinate with ground personnel using hand signals, radios, and established jobsite procedures.
  • Follow erosion-control, stormwater-management, and site-safety requirements.
  • Assist with basic jobsite tasks when needed, including spotter duties, cleanup, material handling, and general labor.
  • Represent The Dig Company and Halligan&Moreno professionally while working with contractors, vendors, inspectors, and community partners.
Equipment Experience
Candidates should have experience operating one or more of the following:

Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the jobsite.
  • Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment.
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions, site markings, equipment limitations, and basic grading requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to climb into equipment, lift materials, and safely perform physical jobsite tasks.
  • Strong attention to safety and situational awareness.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of excavation, grading, utility, or site-development experience.
  • Experience reading site plans, elevations, and grading stakes.
  • Experience with laser levels, GPS machine control, or grade-control technology.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Commercial Drivers License.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience performing basic preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.
