Job Description
Effective Date:
I. Reports to: Parts Manager
II. Subordinates: None
III. Job Outline
Reports to the parts manager and charged with the responsibility of selling parts. This job function is responsible for assisting in the determination of parts requirements with customers, selling parts and providing order processing services. This position has responsibility for:
a) Customer parts sales
b) Customer parts order processing
c) Telephone selling
d) In-store sales and merchandising
e) Parts and supplies purchasing
Also,
Operating within all parts, policies, and procedures of the company
Maintaining high personal morale
Maintaining excellent customer relations
Attaining short and long term objectives
Operating safely and following all safety guidelines
Maintain accurate and orderly inventory
Other duties as assigned by management
IV. Duties
1) Customer Parts Sales
Knowledgeable on the parts systems for all manufacturers represented by the dealership
Knowledgeable on all features and benefits of all parts commodities sold
Knowledgeable about selling and on successful selling techniques
Able to deal with customer objections in a professional manner
Knowledgeable of the competitive environment in which the dealer operates
Assures that all objectives are achievable and quantitatively measureable
Purchasing parts and supplies as required and according to company's Purchase Order guidelines
Assist in maintaining an orderly and accurate inventory including periodic spot checks and year end counts
2) Customer parts order processing
Knowledgeable on all computer systems used within the parts department
Knowledgeable on all parts libraries available and their uses and processes
Able to find and maintain all customer records through the company name and address
Able to determine pricing for all parts according to company policies
Locating all parts required to satisfy customer needs
3) Telephone and electronic selling
Able to perform sales using the telephone and email in a professional manner
Familiarity with the telephone/email in selling and transmitting a positive manner on the phone or via email
Disciplined in phone/email follow up to determine customer satisfaction on orders placed and processed by the parts department
4) In store sales and merchandising
Able to present merchandise to customers with professional selling techniques
Possess strong knowledge on features and benefits of all merchandise
Operates as a facilitator for customers in finding what they want
5) Job position control issues
Continually monitors customer activities to achieve maximum customer satisfaction and loyalty
Maintains information current on machine product, parts products and systems
Conducts daily tracking of outstanding customer parts orders and shipments
Job Requisites
The individual in this position should be personable, a problem solver, ethical, intelligent and have a sales aptitude. This individual needs to be able to adapt to all of the forces around them- customers, supplies, department employees, co-workers, and manufacturers employees.
Education/Training/Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent experience in parts sales.
