VISTA Youth Engagement Coordinator - Montgomery County
The Youth Engagement Coordinator VISTA of Montgomery County has the perfect opportunity to play a leadership role in building capacity to become a licensed childcare center in Maryland, plus growing current youth programming. Along with the Montgomery County staff, you will build capacity for more sustainable year-long youth programming, develop strong relationships with community partners like universities, and work toward state licensure. Perfect for those interested in program management, youth programming, or community and volunteer engagement. Great for anyone interested in future nonprofit work, as The Salvation Army is a well-recognized and reputable international nonprofit organization. The Salvation Army is in 130+ countries and has representation in every zip code of the United States. Our mission is to serve all in need, without discrimination. In the DC Metro Area, we serve an average of 70,000 people a year through housing for young mothers, meal programs, youth and music activities, substance abuse treatment, rent and utility assistance, and more. We value programs that help expand personal and professional horizons, such as our internship program and AmeriCorps VISTA.
Member Duties : -1- Assess community needs and available resources, build relationships with community partners, and become familiar with early childhood education center licensure standards. Plan community engagement actions and recruit volunteers -2- Research, develop, and design year-long program for youth with a STEM track, a sports track, and a music and music theory track geared for different age levels from 3-15 years old -3- Integrate youth programs into other Salvation Army programs, including food distribution events and Diapers and Donuts, through building trust, providing resources, and having comprehensive and accessible information for families and individuals in need -4- Create strong relationships with local universities, including but not limited to University of Maryland
