Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
• Experience in prosecutorial handling felonies and misdemeanors is preferred but not essential
• Specific juvenile experience is preferable, but a willingness to learn the unique aspects of juvenile prosecution is sufficient
• Must have strong writing, research , organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, work efficiently within time constraints and deadlines, and handle stressful situations
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential
• Law Review, Journal and Mock Trial experience is a plus
• Must currently be licensed to practice law in Texas and be a member in good standing of the State Bar
• Must be willing to do any and all duties as assigned
Primary Job Duties
• Represent the State of Texas in juvenile matters, including trials and hearings
• Coordinate with school district personnel and advise law enforcement with respect to juvenile matters.
• Investigation of facts; filing of all necessary documents; negotiations with defense attorneys; conferences with juvenile probation officers; presenting cases to judges and juries.
• Being on call to answer law enforcement questions.
• Other duties, as assigned.
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
