What is a monitoring evaluation learning officer?

Monitoring Evaluation Learning (MEL) Officers are professionals responsible for tracking, assessing, and improving the effectiveness of projects or programs. They design and implement systems to collect data, evaluate outcomes, and facilitate learning within organizations, often in the nonprofit, development, or humanitarian sectors. Their work helps ensure that projects meet their objectives, are accountable to stakeholders, and can adapt based on what is learned through ongoing monitoring and evaluation.

Regular meetings and joint review sessions are common ways in which MEL Officers support and guide program teams.
