Job description

JOB LOCATION - Wilkes-Barre General Hospital - Per Diem

Position Purpose

The Monitor Technician functions under the direction of the professional nurse. The Monitor Technician is responsible for cardiac monitor observation and reporting of cardiac rhythm changes to the nursing staff for further investigation when indicated. The Monitor Technician will demonstrate knowledge appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstration of knowledge will include principles of growth and development and interpretation of information and data to identify the patient's age-specific needs. Perform others duties incidental to the work described herein.

Position Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

EMT and/or equivalent acute care, clinical experience preferred. Medical terminology preferred. Successful completion of a basic dysrhythmia course is required. Must be optimistic, enthusiastic and able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. Must work collaboratively with all members of the health care team. Interacts with the patients in a respectful, courteous manner. Auditory and visual acuity, and communicative ability essential.
