Location: In-office, Montrealย 

As Portfolio Manager, you will act as lead to one of Valnetโ€™s Portfolio Team. This role demands strong analytical skills, along with the capacity to efficiently manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.ย 

Responsibilities:ย 

  • P&L Management & Optimization:ย Manage P&L at the EBITDA level, focusing on identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization. Track financial performance and recommend adjustments to align with business goals.

  • Strategic Budget Allocation:ย Responsible for the strategic allocation of investment budgets to enhance digital publishing operations, streamline costs, and boost revenue streams. Implement daily tasks, ensuring all efforts align with long-term profitability.

  • Content & Audience Development:ย Collaborate with editorial teams to understand and improve content strategies. Leverage data-driven insights to help increase traffic, engagement, and audience reach across all brands within the portfolio.

  • Competitive Analysis & Market Research:ย Conduct thorough competitor analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic enhancements. Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market shifts to maintain a competitive edge.

  • New Venture Development:ย Identify and explore new projects, ventures, and partnerships that complement or expand the existing portfolio. Assist in preparing business cases and feasibility assessments for potential initiatives.

  • Team Collaboration & Leadership:ย Work closely with brand leaders, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and performance. Assist in setting clear goals, tracking progress, and delivering constructive feedback.

  • Reporting & Strategic Adjustments:ย Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including revenue, traffic, and audience engagement. Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior management to drive continuous improvement.

  • Efficiency & Process Improvement:ย Help streamline content and operational processes, ensuring efficient project management and timely execution. Constantly look for ways to improve the quality, timeliness, and relevance of content output.

  • Work collaboratively with department and managers.ย 

Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or another relevant field.
  • 5-10ย yearsย ofย experienceย inย rolesย suchย asย Generalย Manager,ย Directorย ofย Operations,ย M&A,ย etc.ย 
  • Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to use data to drive decision-making. Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Excel, and other data analysis platforms.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

  • A solid understanding of digital publishing, content monetization, and audience engagement strategies.

  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Capable of managing projects independently while contributing to team objectives.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving priorities. Comfortable managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines.ย 

  • Understanding of the Valnet Business System (VBS) or a willingness to learn and adopt its principles for operational success.
