Job Summary :

Serves the needs of patients, associates, physicians, and the public through the effective and efficient completion of general preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical appliances, electrical systems, clinical and non-clinical equipment, boilers, chillers, and air handlers, exhaust fans, medical gas systems, ice machines, refrigeration systems and equipment, tube delivery systems, water pumps, toilets, sinks, air compressors and vacuum pumps, etc. Will use building automation systems to monitor house-wide temperature control systems.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Repairs and maintains electrical appliances, removes and replaces defective electrical outlets, and minor wiring. Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances, using hand tools and testing instruments to supply electrical power for lighting and equipment operation in a hospital. *Must have a basic understanding of ac power systems 600 volts and below. May be responsible for routine checks and testing on emergency power generator systems.

2. Inspects, tests and replaces electrical lighting, power circuits, and equipment. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment, using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter.

3. Will perform inspections, cleaning and repairs to basic plumbing systems including but not limited to ice machines, toilets, sinks, showers, fountains, and drains. Installs and repairs minor pipes, fittings, fixtures, and tests systems for leaks.

4. This position frequently performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC systems within a hospital or satellite building. This will include large frame air handlers, boilers (steam and hot water), air conditioning systems to include large chillers, small split systems, and cooling towers.

5. Routine survey of energy management systems to verify proper function of HVAC systems which includes thermostats, air flow, VAV boxes including damper and water control valves, and general temperature complaints.

6. Light carpentry duties to include rated door inspection, door hardware, patching drywall surfaces, and installation of wall hung items. Participates in install and upkeep of infection prevention barriers.

7. General maintenance and repair to commercial laundry and kitchen equipment.

8. Cleans and makes repairs to ice machines, water recovery systems, lift stations, grease traps, roof drain screens, intake air grilles, supply air grilles, and water treatment systems.

9. Answers calls for maintenance service, which includes covering on-call and scheduled weekend and off shift response. Basic typing skills, and computer usage skills helpful.

10. Maintains and keeps maintenance tools and related equipment clean, orderly, and in good working condition at all times.

11. Drives hospital vehicles on hospital campus, to satellite facilities, and throughout the surrounding area to perform job duties, deliver and pick up repair parts. *A valid US driver's license required.

12. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required: (Must have one or more of the following)

1. Three years of hands-on experience in industrial or commercial maintenance setting. Healthcare experience preferred.

2. Graduate of a trade school.

3. Equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
