Hospice Registered Nurse (4pm-12am)

Accredited by The Joint Commission, this organization continues to be the largest and only licensed, non-profit, community-based hospice serving Delaware. Now also providing care in Pennsylvania, including southern Chester and Delaware counties.

We are actively seeking a talented Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time, 40-hour-per-week evening position.

The Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing skilled nursing care and responding to urgent patient needs during evening hours. This role focuses on completing urgent visits, symptom management, crisis intervention, and visits that could not be completed during the daytime schedule. The RN collaborates closely with Hospice RN Case Managers and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care for patients and families. This is an exempt position.

Qualifications:

  • NEW GRADS are welcome to apply! Hospice/home care experience not required. Come to us with the Hospice Heart and we will train you!
  • 2 years of oncology, medical-surgical, or home care nursing experience preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice professional nursing in the State of Delaware
  • Valid driver's license
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing (BSN preferred but not required)
  • CPR certification required

Schedule:

  • Providing hospice care to patients throughout Sussex County in both homes and facilities
  • Evening RNs cover a larger geographic territory than Hospice RN Case Managers
  • Typically, two evening nurses provide county-wide coverage

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respond to urgent patient care needs during evening hours
  • Complete symptom management, assessments, and crisis intervention visits
  • Perform visits that were unable to be completed during the daytime schedule
  • Collaborate with Hospice RN Case Managers, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team
  • Provide compassionate support and education to patients and families
