Job description

Job Title

Finishing Operator Assistant| Monday - Friday

Position Overview

This position is Monday- Friday 3pm-11pm.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Maintain correct and steady application of latex onto carpet, provide assistance to coater operator and froth operator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

I. Latex Application

A. Ensure carpet is feeding correctly into precoat direct applicator and Tillotson adhesive applicator, making sure to fix and report folded carpet to Coater Operator and Sew-on Operator.

B. Identify style to be run using Sew-In Tracker screen.

C. Reference spec sheet to identify correct application settings for the given style.

3. Puddle height (precoat and adhesive)

4. Gap

D. Enter correct settings into Latex Control System.

E. Manually check gap with gages and adjust system if necessary.

F. Visually inspect latex application and troubleshoot using Latex Control System as necessary. Notify supervisors of issues.

G. Make sure end dams are set up correctly and latex is not getting on carpet selvage. Adjust end dams as necessary.

H. Perform all previous steps again for each style change.

I. Manually check cupweight and viscosity 4 times per shift and log in notebook. Also do this for any backing or weight check requested by supervisor.

II. Maintain Precoat Area

A. Ensure proper operation of pre-coat pumps and blenders.

B. Make sure soap, water, latex tank levels are sufficiently high.

C. Clean out precoat filter baskets twice per week.

D. Report any issues to supervisor.

III. Perform Coater Operator Duties

A. The assistant operator must relieve the coater operator for breaks and absenteeism.

B. The assistant operator will be held responsible for all duties of the coater operator during this time.

IV. Perform Froth Operator Duties

A. The assistant operator must relieve the froth operator for breaks and slack time (when froth operator is changing out secondary backing).

B. The assistant operator will be held responsible for all duties of the froth operator during this time.

V. Conduct Secondary Application Weight Checks

A. Conduct check at direction of supervisor.

B. Place 3 two-part paper forms on secondary (after application) as secondary rises to the marriage roller. C. Place 3 2-part paper forms on
