Job Description

The Senior IMM Engineer performs a variety of plastic injection molding process and mechanical assignments utilizing both process and mechanical engineering fundamentals. Works at an advanced technical expertise level involving planning, development, assessing machine run-ability, and strategy to improve. Responsible for developing preventative maintenance strategy based on assessment data to assure high quality products and IMM reliability.

Supports activities involved with sub-contractors/vendors from beginning of design process through installation and start-up processes. Acts as advocate for continuous improvement of technology and processes. Takes an active role in front-line IMM support i.e., breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance, training programs, etc.

Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, conducts and directs injection molding/equipment assignments for production support in areas of process capability, uptime, cycle time and yield.
  • Takes lead role in troubleshooting / resolving equipment, systems, processes to optimize IMM run-ability to prevent product nonconformance.
  • Prepares equipment, process, safety, and components specifications and conducts technical analysis of vendor proposals.
  • Qualifies new equipment and performs vendor and site acceptance testing to meet project objectives.
  • Provides training to Operations engineers and technicians to operate, troubleshoot and maintain new and current equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and/or University degree is required; focused degree in Engineering preferred. An advanced degree is preferred

Required:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional work experience: Six (6) plus years preferred
  • Relevant work experience in injection molding process/equipment development, project management, construction, installation, and qualification.
  • Thorough knowledge and complete understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices of manufacturing engineering
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic processing & molding technology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Electrical, pneumatic schematic, and PLC ladder diagram understanding and interpretation

Preferred:

  • Specific knowledge of Netstal, Sumitomo, Arburg, Engel highly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of government regulatory requirements
  • Preferred experience working in FDA environment

Other:

  • May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other locations and sites
