Description:

The Equipment Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new equipment and machinery. This role involves creating design schematics, maintenance schedules, and reports related to equipment training, specifications, and best practices. The position is pivotal in minimizing costs through product standardization and quality tracking, ensuring the equipment meets the demands of production processes.


  • Train fellow engineers, technicians, operators, and other staff about equipment process
  • Collaborate with other departments and external vendors to plan and implement projects and resolve issues.
  • Research and evaluate solutions for cost-reduction and other opportunities to improve OEE.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes.
  • Create/modify documents to support manufacturing operations such as PM documents, work instructions, process specifications, etc.
  • Work with maintenance to continuously improve equipment/process design, PM procedures and scheduling.
  • Lead large capital projects from justification, design specifications, vendor selection, logistics, and commissioning.
  • Design experiments to define and optimize process and equipment parameters.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive OEE.
  • Lead or participate in the introduction of new products, processes, material, and equipment.
  • Lead or support the design/development of new processes and equipment.
  • Provide feedback Design for Manufacturability to product design team.
  • Design or develop equipment and fixtures to support manufacturing.
  • Initiate or facilitate implementation of engineering changes.
  • Develop spare parts list and tool recovery plan.
  • Interface with equipment vendors.
  • Deep dive root cause analysis on critical and systemic issues in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent.
  • 5 plus years’ experience as Controls, Automation, Equipment or Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Ability to use CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Draft sight)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings: Electrical, mechanical.
  • Experience troubleshooting and improving highly automated production equipment.
  • Experience defining and optimizing equipment and process parameters.
  • Prior experience in leading or participating in OEE improvement documentation.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and ordinances, as well safety protocols to ensure industry standard compliance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC’s, automation devices, robots, and other electromechanical devices.
  • Statistical software: Minitab, JMP, Advanced Excel
  • Prior experience with computerized maintenance management systems or other tool tracking systems.
  • Experience with solar module manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to travel off-site for training or business specific needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. individually or up to 50 lbs. in tandem.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time during working hours.
