Clarity Partners is seeking a Solution Architect local to Chicago, IL. In this role, you will lead the technical design and architecture of CMS-based web solutions across platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, Shopify, and others. You will be responsible for developing reusable, scalable and maintainable website solutions and delivering best in class websites and mobile apps. You will be providing day-to-day support for various CMS platforms, as well as custom module development and testing the quality and security of your code. You will also collaborate closely with designers, developers, and client stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital experiences. This position will report in a hybrid setting.
Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and guidelines for CMS platforms and web applications.
  • Architect new CMS implementations from discovery through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Lead technical design and review of custom modules, plugins, APIs, and third-party integrations.
  • Ensure all solutions are secure, scalable, performant, maintainable, and accessible (including WCAG compliance).
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, content strategists, and development teams to align architecture with user experience goals.
  • Oversee CMS migrations and re-platforming, ensuring data accuracy, SEO continuity, and smooth cutover.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to front-end and back-end developers, enforcing code quality and consistency.
  • Evaluate emerging CMS tools, frameworks, hosting environments, and cloud platforms to enhance capabilities, including AI-enabled technologies.
  • Participate in project planning, estimation, and client technical discussions; document architecture and integration decisions.
  • Support post-launch performance optimization, enhancements, and security updates.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience architecting and developing CMS-based websites, ideally with Drupal and/or WordPress.
  • Strong experience designing scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures, including integrations, APIs, and database design.
  • Proficiency with PHP, React, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, REST APIs, and Git/version control.
  • Experience with CMS migrations and re-platforming, including SEO and content mapping.
  • Strong understanding of web standards, accessibility, responsive design, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring developers and conducting code reviews.
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting environments, managed CMS hosting platforms, and modern deployment processes.
  • Preferred: experience in consulting or agency settings, accessibility, modern JavaScript frameworks, AI-assisted code development, and third-party integrations with external systems.

Clarity is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For the Solution Architect, the base salary pay range is $135,000 - $165,000. The range represents a good faith estimate that Clarity reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of posting.
