Assistant Project Manager - Construction

About CEG Solutions

CEG Solutions is a design-build firm delivering deep energy retrofits and infrastructure modernization projects for federal, state, local, and institutional clients. We transform existing buildings into smart, high-performing facilities through comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades reducing energy use, cutting carbon emissions, and extending the life of critical infrastructure. Working primarily through Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) and similar performance-based delivery models, our teams take projects from initial audit through design, construction, and long-term measurement and verification. If you want your work to have a measurable impact on the built environment and the climate, we want to hear from you.

The Role:

As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll work alongside seasoned PMs to deliver complex MEP projects managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client relationships from kickoff through commissioning. You'll learn the ESPC delivery model end-to-end, sharpen your technical chops on real systems, and take on more ownership as you grow.

What you'll do:

  • Drive projects to completion on budget, on schedule, and on spec
  • Oversee implementation of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) in the field
  • Manage subcontractors, review contracts, and track project financials
  • Lead design coordination schedules, RFIs, review meetings, action items
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Enforce safety, code compliance, and quality standards on every site
  • Review M&V plans, commissioning protocols, and O&M handoffs
  • Support business development during project pursuit and delivery

Basic Qualifications:

  • 23 years of experience in construction project management or project engineering
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering, construction management, or related field (relevant technical experience considered in lieu)
  • Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of MEP, HVAC, solar, BAS, or other building systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter with sharp problem-solving instincts and great attention to detail
  • implementations often run after hours, ability to accommodate flexible shift work
  • OSHA-30 certification a plus

Why CEG

Our work has measurable impact. Every project cuts energy waste, lowers operating costs, and shrinks the carbon footprint of the spaces Americans live, work, and serve in. You'll join a tight-knit team that takes the mission seriously, invests in your growth, and gives high performers room to run.

Benefits include: 401(k) with match, medical/dental/vision, HSA/FSA, life insurance, EAP, paid parental leave, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement, professional development support, cell phone reimbursement, and clear paths for advancement.

Physical requirements

The role requires moving safely around active construction sites, ascending/descending ladders and stairs, operating field tools, and occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs. PPE and required safety training are provided.
