As our Modernization Mechanic , you will successfully analyze, problem-solve and collaborate with subcontractors, general contractors, and consultants alike. You will help adhere to the agreed modernization timeline of the project you will be working on and report back all progress to the supervisor.

Your appetite to support site safety in accordance with standard practice/policy will be your utmost priority as looking out for yourself and others is engrained in our culture. You will use the knowledge gained both on the job and outside to interpret technical documents while also working in a fast-paced environment.

Added responsibilities:

  • All aspects of Elevator modernization which includes manually assembling and installation of elevator equipment in existing buildings, such as major elevator components including rails, pits and hoist-way equipment, car and counterweight assemblies and machine room equipment.
  • Responsible for manually wiring and installing smaller elevator components including roller guides, door track and linkages and hall buttons and lanterns, which requires color perception to distinguish color- coded wiring components.
  • Ensures that all work is performed in a safe manner in accordance with safety standards and policies to protect the health and welfare of self and others.

Hiring requirements

  • Speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal and external communications
  • Requires a high degree of concentration and attention to intermittently wire, install, maintain and update elevator equipment
  • Physical – Requires walking/standing approximately 80%, sitting approximately 20% and lifting up to 100 lbs. Approximately 50% of the time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 70% of the time; involves travel up to 95% of the time.
  • Environmental – Requires the ability of performing essential job functions in field setting with exposure to non-controlled climate conditions.
  • Manual Dexterity – Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information; requires capability to operate an automobile.

Annual Base Pay Range:

The Mechanic hourly wage rate is $58.31 since January 1, 2026. The compensation package offered is agreed based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
