What is a moderator?

Moderators are individuals responsible for overseeing discussions and content on online platforms, forums, or social media to ensure that rules and guidelines are followed. They review posts and comments, remove inappropriate or offensive material, and may also mediate disputes between users. Their goal is to foster a safe, respectful, and productive online environment for all participants.

What does a moderator do?

A moderator facilitates, reviews, and guides a discussion or debate and related interactions to ensure all shared content is appropriate and follows community rules. You can find moderators in a variety of industries and contexts online or at events. Social media moderators, community moderators, discussion/debate moderators, and health care moderators all handle the responsibilities to create a space for positive and safe interaction. As a moderator, your duties involve providing discussion topics, encouraging participants to share, removing unrelated or inappropriate content, answering questions, defining group boundaries and rules, and updating the platform. You also have the authority to decide what information is approved or removed.

What are some common challenges faced by moderators, and how can they effectively handle them?

Moderators often encounter challenges such as managing high volumes of user-generated content, resolving conflicts between community members, and enforcing guidelines consistently. To handle these situations effectively, strong communication skills and the ability to remain impartial are essential. Many Moderators find it helpful to rely on clear moderation policies and team support to ensure fair decision-making and maintain a positive online environment. Collaboration with other moderators and regular check-ins can also be beneficial in addressing complex or sensitive issues.

Job description

About Qualitate
Qualitate is building the AI-native continuous intelligence platform for enterprises, investment firms, and asset managers. We automate the entire primary research workflow, from study design and expert recruitment through AI-moderated interviews and insight synthesis, replacing weeks of manual research with high output signal in hours.
Primary research remains slow and transactional for everyone involved. Investment and corporate strategy teams spend hundreds of hours coordinating intermediaries, scheduling calls, and synthesizing fragmented insights. Experts face repetitive outreach, screener calls, schedule wrangling, and one-off engagements that offer them little control or lasting value.
Qualitate transforms this experience with an AI-native expert network platform that gives participants the flexibility to contribute on their own time while enabling research at unprecedented scale. Qualitate's AI Moderator conducts thousands of conversations with experts each month, capturing forward-looking purchasing plans, competitive displacement, and real-time ROI signals. Our continuous intelligence platform then turns these conversations into quantified, time-series outputs tracking over 10,000 public and private companies, queryable instantly in natural language. Our customers include some of the world's largest enterprises, hedge funds, PE firms, credit investors, and venture capital firms.
The Role
This is a foundational hire. You'll join Qualitate as our first GTM engineer, operating at the intersection of sales, engineering, and growth. This role will build the automation layer of our revenue engine.
You'll take the core workflows in our GTM motion - prospecting research, enrichment, routing, outreach, reporting - and design and deploy systems that run themselves. Integrate AI agents into revenue workflows, build data and tooling to power sales and marketing, and transform manual workflows into production-grade systems.
The ideal candidate combines technical depth with business instincts, and has a tinkerer's mindset. You'll run rapid experiments - build, measure, and scale it or kill it. The role reports into our VP of Operations, and is cross-functional, partnering with sales, growth, and leadership teams.
What You'll Own
  • GTM data and systems. Design, build, and maintain the data and automation infrastructure that powers our go-to-market organization - account and contact enrichment, outbound and email tooling, and reliable integrations across our stack (HubSpot, Clay, and modern outbound tooling).
  • Reporting and visibility. Develop dashboards, experimentation frameworks, and self-serve reporting that give our CEO, Head of Sales, and reps real-time visibility into pipeline, conversion, and revenue performance.
  • AI agents and automation. Build production-grade AI agents that automate lead research, enrichment, routing, campaign execution, and outbound personalization - using frontier language models, APIs, and workflow orchestration to eliminate manual operational work.
  • Rapid experimentation. Prototype AI-powered workflows, measure their business impact, and scale successful experiments into core GTM infrastructure. Stay at the frontier of AI tooling and proactively introduce new capabilities that increase the team's leverage.
  • Scale and operations. Build reliable, observable pipelines that customer-facing teams depend on every day. Continuously identify bottlenecks and automate repetitive processes across the customer lifecycle - TAM mapping, attribution, and lead routing.
  • Data quality. Own the quality and documentation of GTM data, working within the governance standards set by our Director of Revenue Operations, so teams can make decisions with confidence.

Who This Role Is For
  • 1-7 years of experience in software engineering, GTM/growth engineering, or a similarly technical role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python. You can learn new tools on the job, but we expect excellent technical fundamentals and the ability to work across modern data and AI infrastructure.
  • Systems builder. Experience building data pipelines, integrating APIs, and designing reliable workflows across business systems.
  • GTM intuition. You understand how sales & marketing teams operate, and you can translate business problems into scalable technical solutions.
  • A builder's instinct. You take ownership of ambiguous problems, move quickly, and know when to build for speed versus long-term scale.
  • AI fluency. You already build with AI daily - agents, LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks - and you have strong opinions about what's actually useful versus hype.
  • Excellent communicator. You partner effectively with sales, operations, and engineering, communicate proactively, and don't need to be managed closely.

What Sets You Apart
  • Engineering background. You write real code and you're comfortable reading API docs and shipping against them the same day. A CS degree is great; a GitHub full of things you built because you wanted them to exist is just as good.
  • Startup experience. You've built GTM or growth automations at a high-growth startup: outbound systems, enrichment pipelines, or internal tools.
  • Hands-on experience with our stack: HubSpot (especially its APIs), Clay, Gong, Apollo, Orum, Lemlist, Zapier, Granola, and Claude & Codex.
  • Data experience. You're familiar with modern data warehouses, orchestration tools, and BI platforms (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Looker, Hex, or similar).
  • AI in production. You've built and deployed AI agents or LLM-powered workflows that survived contact with real users.
  • Builder. Side projects, a personal site you built, or anything else that shows you build for fun.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $140K-$200K depending on experience.
  • Bonus: Eligible for cash bonus tied to individual and company performance
  • Equity: Meaningful early-stage grant with upside tied to company growth.
  • Benefits: Health coverage, flexible PTO, paid holidays.
  • Location: Full-time, in-person in New York City.

What to Expect Working at Qualitate
  • Excellence. You'll be held accountable to an exceptionally high bar for quality and impact.
  • High velocity. Fast-paced work environment in terms of growth, decision making, and time to impact.
  • High agency. Ownership over how you work, not just what you work on. We hire people we trust to figure it out.
  • Shared ambition. A small, early team disrupting the multi-billion dollar market research industry with AI.
  • Joy. We work hard and genuinely enjoy working with each other. Dedication to our work is matched only by our passion for fostering an enjoyable, collaborative work environment.
