Job Title: Senior Engineer, Modem Software
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Senior Engineer, Modem Software with our client located in San Jose, CA.
Job Description:
  • Looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineers to join our team in developing and commercializing world class cellular modem SW.
  • We are looking for engineers with expertise cellular domain with focus on L1 control/PHY layers and embedded software.
  • As a member of Modem Software team, you will be responsible for development and commercialization of cellular chipsets in North America market.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Commercialize the Exynos modem in North American market.
  • Analyze field and test equipment logs, debug issues and provide fix
  • Participate in new feature development and verification
  • Understand existing embedded software, identify optimization areas and provide solutions to improve overall performance
  • Collaborate with wider teams and customers to provide end to end solutions.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science Discipline with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master's with 3+ years or PhD with 0+ years in field of wireless communication technologies.
  • Excellent coding skills in C/C++ in embedded space
  • Excellent understanding of HW abstraction layer and embedded concepts
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP protocol specifications in L1
  • Knowledge of physical layer channels (PDCCH, PDSCH, PBCH) and related procedures in downlink
  • Good understanding of L2/L3 protocols especially MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC is preferred
  • Ability to work on test equipment and vendor drops to verify and debug assigned features/issues end to end
  • Ability to take ownership and bring innovations in development of commercial modem software
