Job description

Are you a seasoned leader with deep expertise in Life & Health valuation and a passion for building future-ready modelling solutions? If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and love uniting diverse teams around a shared purpose, this could be the role for you!
About the Role
As the Modelling Lead Americas, you will be at the heart of Swiss Re's actuarial and financial modelling capabilities, driving the development, maintenance, and execution of critical valuation models. Your remit spans a broad and exciting geographic scope - covering Life & Health products across the US, Canada, and Latin America, as well as disability products in Australia - making this a truly global leadership opportunity. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of modelling across these regions, ensuring our models are robust, forward-looking, and aligned with evolving regulatory and reporting standards. This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact at the intersection of technical excellence and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a diverse, high-performing modelling team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Develop, maintain, and run Life & Health valuation models across US, Canada, and Latin America, as well as disability models for Australia, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives
  • Drive financial reporting excellence across US Statutory, IFRS and local statutory reporting frameworks, ensuring compliance and consistency across all regions
  • Design and implement future-ready modelling solutions, anticipating business needs and regulatory changes across multiple jurisdictions
  • Manage strategic relationships with external modelling and technology vendors, ensuring solutions meet business needs, deliver value, and support the long-term evolution of the modelling ecosystem
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Swiss Re's actuarial, finance, and technology teams to deliver integrated, end-to-end modelling capabilities
  • Manage model governance, validation, and documentation standards, ensuring models are robust, accurate, fit for purpose, and supported by transparent, auditable processes.
  • Navigate ambiguity and complexity with confidence, providing clear direction and pragmatic solutions in a rapidly evolving, multi-regional landscape
  • Engage senior stakeholders, communicating complex modelling concepts and results in a clear, compelling, and accessible manner
  • Mentor and develop team members, building technical depth and leadership capability across the modelling function

About the Team
The Modelling Centre of Excellence (MCoE) Americas is a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to developing, maintaining, and running critical valuation models representing more than half of Swiss Re's Life & Health exposure globally. The team's scope spans Life & Health products across the US, Canada, and Latin America, as well as disability products in Australia, reflecting the breadth and diversity of Swiss Re's reinsurance portfolio. The team plays a critical role in supporting Swiss Re's financial reporting and strategic decision-making, combining deep technical expertise with a forward-thinking approach to modelling innovation.
About You
You are a seasoned valuation and modelling professional and an inspiring leader who brings both deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset to everything you do. You are resilient, calm under pressure, and skilled at navigating complexity and ambiguity across diverse geographies and product lines. You have a natural ability to unite diverse teams around shared goals, and you are passionate about designing solutions that are not just fit for today, but ready for tomorrow.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • Expert knowledge of Life & Health products, including valuation methodologies and financial reporting frameworks across US, Canada, Latin America, and Australia
  • Deep expertise in L&H Valuation and Financial Reporting, with hands-on experience in both US Statutory and IFRS standards
  • Strong technical understanding of actuarial and finance systems, including proficiency with Moody's AXIS modelling platform
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to develop high-performing, geographically diverse teams and unite cross-functional stakeholders around shared objectives.

These are additional nice to haves:
  • Resilience and composure under pressure, with the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in fast-moving, high-stakes environments
  • Skilled in managing ambiguity and resolving conflicts, bringing clarity and direction when challenges arise
  • Strategic mindset, with demonstrated ability to design and implement future-ready, scalable solutions
  • Experience working in a global or matrixed organization, navigating complex stakeholder landscapes across geographies

The position will be located in our Fort Wayne, IN or Armonk, NY office. Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework or relocation assistance.
For Fort Wayne, the estimated base salary range for this position is $146,000 to $244,000. For Armonk, the estimated base salary range for this position is $154,000 to $256,000.
