Position           : Principal Data Modeler with GCP

Location          : Nashville, TN Onsite

Duration         : 12+ months contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Modeler to lead our enterprise data modelling efforts and define the blueprint for how data is structured, integrated, and governed across the organization. You will collaborate with data architects, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to design scalable, high-performance data models that support both operational and analytical workloads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Data Modelling Strategy: Define and drive the enterprise data modelling standards, guidelines, and best practices (conceptual, logical, and physical models).
  • Model Development: Design and maintain enterprise-wide data models, ensuring consistency, reuse, and adherence to data governance policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data architects, DBAs, data engineers, BI teams, and business analysts to ensure models align with business needs and technical environments.
  • Data Integration & Warehousing: Contribute to the design of data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data pipelines by modelling schemas for structured and semi-structured data.
  • Tool & Technology Expertise: Use industry-standard modelling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, SQL Developer Data Modeler) and maintain model repositories and versioning.
  • Metadata & Lineage: Ensure data models are well-documented and integrated into metadata management and data lineage tools.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Support data quality initiatives by ensuring models align with data governance frameworks, including master data management and reference data standards.
  • Mentoring: Provide thought leadership and mentor junior data modellers and data engineers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data modelling and data architecture, preferably in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data stack tools.
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data lineage concepts.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams.
