Dematic is hiring a Simulation Engineer for one of our hubs-Grand Rapids (MI), Atlanta (GA), Plano (TX), or Milwaukee (WI)-offering a hybrid schedule blending on-site collaboration and remote work. This role involves building and evaluating simulation models that contribute to the invention of automated and material-handling systems before they are implemented. You'll convert data into relevant insights, support project and customer decisions, and assist in delivering solutions that improve both performance and reliability. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $65,000 - $140,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:What You Will Do in This Role:
  • Develop discrete-event simulation models to evaluate the performance of material-handling and automated systems.

  • Support pre-sales and delivery activities by crafting low- to high-fidelity simulation models and conducting performance analysis.

  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, project management, and other partners to define requirements, scope, and timelines.

  • Collect, validate, and analyze data while detailing model assumptions and functional specifications.

  • Configure, complete, and lead simulation scenarios, experiments, and statistical runs.

  • Interpret simulation outputs and clearly communicate results to internal teams and customers.

  • Contribute to customer-facing presentations and technical reviews to support solution recommendations.

  • Deliver assigned tasks on schedule, meeting quality and budget expectations.

  • Explain technical concepts in a clear and accessible way for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Exercise good judgment when working with customer, confidential, or proprietary information.

  • Support continuous improvement of simulation tools, standards, processes, and methodologies.

What We're Looking For:
  • Solid understanding of discrete-event simulation concepts, methods, and standard processes.

  • Ability to apply statistical and quantitative analysis to simulation problems.

  • Experience with material-handling systems, logistics, or automated solutions (preferred).

  • Proficiency in at least one structured programming language (e.g., Python).

  • Experience with simulation tools such as Plant Simulation (AutoMod experience is a plus).

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or 3D modeling tools is helpful.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, technologies, and methods.

  • Strong understanding of simulation modeling principles and approaches.

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Proven experience in simulation model development, system modeling, or performance analysis.

  • Typical experience range: 2-5+ years, depending on role level and validated capability.
