Job Description Design Engineer Location: Grand Rapids, MI Job Description: The Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and improvement of products and components from concept through production. This role applies engineering principles, CAD tools, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost, safety, and manufacturability requirements. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop new products, components, or systems based on customer requirements, internal specifications, and industry standards Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software Perform engineering analyses to validate design performance and feasibility Support prototype builds, testing, and design verification/validation activities Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and operations teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective Participate in design reviews and implement feedback to enhance product performance and reliability Manage engineering change requests (ECRs/ECOs) and maintain accurate documentation Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and design standardization Ensure compliance with applicable standards, safety regulations, and company procedures Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field Minimum of 2 years of design engineering experience Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks experience preferred) Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills Disclaimer: By submitting your application for this position, you are agreeing to receive communication from Cannon Jeffries Search Group, which may include calls, texts, and emails.
