Growth Analytics & Operations Lead

Job description

About Haystack News
Haystack News is a fast-growing, mission-driven startup working to empower independent thinkers with the news they care about. Millions of users rely on Haystack to live more informed lives through personalized, on-demand access to trusted local and national news.
We're the leading free news streaming platform, connecting over 40 million viewers to 400+ publishers across mobile, web, and connected TVs. If you're excited by data, storytelling, and building systems that scale, this is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of how millions of people consume news.
The Role
We're looking for a Growth Operations & Analytics Lead to partner closely with our BD and Marketing leaders. These are people who excel at building relationships, storytelling, and executing deals-and you'll be their operational and analytical counterpart, ensuring decisions and performance are backed by data, systems, and insights.
This is not a back-office reporting role. You'll build the muscle that lets our business teams see around corners-owning the data, the processes, and the experiments that keep the business performing. You'll connect metrics to action: where we grow, how we acquire users, how our partnerships perform, and how we optimize ROI across campaigns and deals.
What You'll Do
  • Act as the data and operations lead for BD and Marketing-owning insights, automation, and performance visibility.
  • Design and automate reporting systems and dashboards for revenue, partnerships, and marketing campaigns across Snowflake and third-party tools (Google Ads, Meta, etc.).
  • Build and monitor A/B tests and experimentation frameworks with Product and Data teams, applying statistical rigor to separate causation from correlation.
  • Identify and communicate actionable insights that drive user growth, partner success, and marketing ROI.
  • Streamline BD and Marketing workflows through process automation and tool integration.
  • Financial modeling and potential deal analysis predicting efficacy and ROI based on inputs and historical performance. Make informed recommendations and predictions on CPI and CAC for new opportunities
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure tracking integrity, forecast accuracy, and visibility into key growth levers.
  • Foster a culture of clarity, experimentation, and accountability-helping teams move fast and learn fast.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field required (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Engineering); advanced degree is a plus (MBA or M.S.).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in analytics, biz ops, growth ops, or similar roles at a high-growth tech or media company.
  • Data native-fluent in SQL, comfortable in Snowflake (or similar), and experienced in building analytics from 0→1, including automated dashboards (Looker, Mode, Tableau, or equivalent).
  • Experimentation-minded-you design and interpret controlled tests, know how to evaluate statistical significance, and connect results to actionable outcomes.
  • Business fluent-you think in terms of unit economics, growth levers, and ROI, not just metrics.
  • Experience with marketing and revenue data (campaigns, attribution, CAC/LTV, partnerships).
  • Proactive and hands-on-you like to implement, not just analyze.
  • Bonus: experience in streaming, media, or ad-supported business models.

Why Haystack
  • Join a mission-driven team empowering independent thinkers with access to quality news.
  • Be part of the #1 news streaming app on connected TVs, with 1+ billion minutes streamed every month.
  • Operate in a high-ownership, low-ego, no-politics environment where results matter more than hierarchy.
  • Collaborate directly with founders and senior leaders-no bureaucracy, just impact.
  • Work on challenges that combine media, technology, and public trust-what you do genuinely matters.
  • Grow as part of a team that values initiative and invests in developing future leaders.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
