Mocktails information

What are mocktails?

Mocktails are non-alcoholic beverages designed to mimic the taste and presentation of traditional cocktails, but without any alcohol content. They often use ingredients like fruit juices, herbs, syrups, and soda water to create complex and refreshing flavors. Mocktails are popular among people who choose not to drink alcohol for personal, health, or religious reasons, and are often served at social events and restaurants. They provide an inclusive option for guests who want a festive drink experience without the effects of alcohol.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mocktail bartender?

To thrive as a Mocktail Bartender, you need a good understanding of beverage preparation, flavor profiles, and basic bar hygiene, often supported by experience in hospitality or bartending. Familiarity with bar tools, drink recipe apps, and inventory management systems is commonly required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills help you deliver memorable experiences and unique drink offerings. These abilities are vital for meeting customer expectations, ensuring efficient operations, and standing out in a competitive hospitality environment.

What are some common challenges faced by a mocktail bartender when creating non-alcoholic drinks in a professional setting?

Mocktail Bartenders often encounter the challenge of crafting beverages that are as visually appealing and flavorful as traditional cocktails, while working without alcohol as a key ingredient. Achieving balance and complexity in taste requires creativity and a strong understanding of flavor profiles. Additionally, there may be a learning curve in educating guests and team members about the variety and quality of non-alcoholic options available. Collaboration with chefs or beverage managers can also be essential to ensure mocktail offerings pair well with menu items and meet customer expectations.

Mocktails are non-alcoholic beverages prepared without alcohol, often served in similar settings as bartenders. Bartenders, on the other hand, mix both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and typically hold specific permits. While mocktails focus solely on non-alcoholic drinks, bartenders have a broader role in beverage service. Both roles are common in hospitality environments, but their credentials and scope differ.

Description:

Experienced High-Volume Bartenders/Mixologists - Join the Opening Team!

Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top | The Dale | Avondale Estates, Georgia

70 N Avondale Rd, Suite A100
Avondale Estates, GA 30002

Opening Soon | Now Hiring Experienced Bartenders & Mixologists

Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top are coming to The Dale in Avondale Estates, and we're building an exceptional Opening Team to bring two distinct but connected hospitality experiences to life.

Ophelia Tavern will be a refined neighborhood gathering place serving Italian-inspired comfort food in a welcoming, no-fuss atmosphere. The menu features Italian tavern classics, including pizzas crisped in 600-degree ovens, fresh pastas tossed in scratch-made sauces, juicy house-ground burgers, thoughtfully prepared entrées and salads, and plenty of small plates made for sharing. With inviting indoor and patio seating, Ophelia pairs its food with handcrafted cocktails, a whiskey-forward bar program featuring a focus on Old Fashioneds, along with a well-rounded selection of beer and wine.

Located upstairs, Bar Top is a rooftop bar featuring a spacious covered patio overlooking the Town Green at The Dale. Designed as a relaxed yet energetic gathering place, Bar Top combines the openness of an outdoor rooftop setting with a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space. The beverage program features classic cocktails, creative mocktails, a wide selection of local draft and bottled beers, and thoughtfully curated wines, complemented by a menu of light bites perfect for sharing.

Whether guests are joining us for dinner at Ophelia Tavern, cocktails after work, gathering with friends on the rooftop, enjoying an evening overlooking the Town Green, or attending a private event, our goal is to create a welcoming, social atmosphere backed by genuine hospitality.

We're looking for experienced, high-volume Bartenders and Mixologists who understand that a great bar experience requires more than simply making a great drink. It takes speed, personality, consistency, organization, product knowledge, and the ability to connect with guests—even when the bar is full. If you know how to handle a busy service, take pride in your craft, and genuinely enjoy hospitality, we want to meet you.

What We're Looking For

This is an experienced bartender position. Previous full-service and high-volume bartending experience is strongly preferred.

Our strongest candidates will bring:

  • Proven bartending experience in a high-volume restaurant, tavern, cocktail bar, rooftop bar, or similar environment
  • Strong cocktail and mixology knowledge
  • Knowledge of whiskey, bourbon, rye, vodka, gin, rum, tequila, beer, and wine
  • Experience preparing both classic and contemporary cocktails
  • Strong knowledge and execution of Old Fashioneds and other whiskey-forward cocktails
  • Understanding of mocktails and thoughtfully crafted non-alcoholic beverages
  • Knowledge of local, craft, draft, and bottled beer
  • Working knowledge of wine and the ability to confidently make recommendations
  • Ability to execute cocktails quickly and consistently while maintaining quality and presentation
  • Confidence engaging with guests and making beverage and food recommendations
  • Friendly, outgoing, polished, and hospitality-focused personality
  • Excellent multitasking, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain composed and efficient during high-volume service
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, organization, and bar presentation
  • Dependability, punctuality, and professional appearance
  • Team-first mentality and willingness to support the entire restaurant
  • Flexible availability, particularly evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
Position Responsibilities

As a Bartender/Mixologist at Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top, you'll help create both the beverage experience and the energy our guests associate with our bars.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and serve handcrafted cocktails, classic cocktails, whiskey-forward drinks, mocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and other beverages according to company recipes and presentation standards
  • Consistently execute cocktails with proper ingredients, measurements, technique, glassware, ice, garnish, and presentation
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of our spirits, cocktail, beer, wine, mocktail, and food offerings
  • Understand the characteristics of different whiskeys, bourbons, ryes, and other spirits in order to confidently guide guests
  • Maintain knowledge of local draft and bottled beer selections and curated wine offerings
  • Provide knowledgeable beverage and food recommendations based on guest preferences
  • Deliver friendly, engaging, and attentive service while maintaining speed during high-volume periods
  • Build relationships with guests and help create an atmosphere that encourages them to return
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system
  • Properly process guest payments and maintain accurate transactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and guest-ready bar throughout every shift
  • Prepare garnishes, juices, mixers, syrups, and other bar ingredients as required
  • Monitor bar inventory and communicate product needs or shortages to management
  • Follow all responsible alcohol service laws, guidelines, and company policies
  • Verify identification and responsibly monitor alcohol consumption
  • Complete opening, running, and closing side work
  • Maintain proper sanitation, food safety, and beverage handling standards
  • Work closely with fellow bartenders, barbacks, servers, kitchen staff, hosts, and managers to ensure smooth service
  • Support fellow team members wherever necessary to deliver an exceptional guest experience
Beverage & Guest Experience Standards

Great bartenders don't just make drinks—they create the reason guests want to sit at the bar.

Our bartenders are expected to balance craft, speed, personality, and hospitality during every shift.

You should be able to make a beautifully executed cocktail while carrying on a conversation with a guest, managing multiple drink tickets, keeping your station organized, communicating with your team, and knowing exactly what needs to happen next.

Our standards include:

  • Consistent cocktail execution
  • Strong spirits and beverage knowledge
  • Excellent whiskey and classic cocktail knowledge
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic offerings
  • Speed and efficiency without sacrificing quality
  • Proper cocktail technique and presentation
  • Genuine and engaging guest interaction
  • Confident suggestive selling
  • Clean, organized, and fully stocked workstations
  • Strong communication with fellow bartenders and the service team
  • Professionalism and composure during high-volume service
  • Responsible alcohol service at all times
Two Spaces. Two Experiences. One Team.

While connected, Ophelia Tavern and Bar Top each offer guests a distinct experience.

Ophelia Tavern

Ophelia Tavern will feature a full-service neighborhood tavern atmosphere with indoor and patio dining, a strong cocktail and whiskey program, beer and wine, and a menu featuring pizzas, pastas, entrées, salads, appetizers, and more. Our beverage program will have a particular focus on whiskey and Old Fashioneds, while still delivering approachable, well-executed cocktails and a beverage selection designed to complement the food and atmosphere.

Bar Top

Located upstairs, Bar Top brings a different energy.

The rooftop bar features a spacious covered patio overlooking the Town Green, along with a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space—creating a welcoming backdrop for everything from an after-work cocktail to a night out with friends or a private gathering. The Bar Top menu features classic cocktails, delicious mocktails, light bites, a wide selection of local draft and bottled beers, and curated wines. Bartenders should be comfortable adapting their service style to both environments—from the full-service tavern experience and whiskey-focused cocktails of Ophelia Tavern to the social, energetic rooftop atmosphere of Bar Top.

Whether you're working behind the tavern bar downstairs, serving guests on the patio, or creating cocktails upstairs at Bar Top overlooking the Town Green, you'll play an important role in creating the atmosphere and experience our guests remember. We want bartenders who can handle volume, understand cocktails, appreciate great spirits, know their beer and wine, connect naturally with guests, and understand how to work as part of a strong team.

Most importantly, we're looking for people who understand that hospitality isn't just about what's in the glass—it's about how you make people feel while they're sitting in front of you. If you're an experienced bartender or mixologist who takes your craft seriously without taking yourself too seriously, we'd love to meet you.
