People who prepare and serve mocktails are often called bartenders or mixologists, especially if they work in bars or restaurants. They may also be referred to as beverage servers or non-alcoholic drink specialists, depending on their role and setting.

Mocktail Bartenders often encounter the challenge of crafting beverages that are as visually appealing and flavorful as traditional cocktails, while working without alcohol as a key ingredient. Achieving balance and complexity in taste requires creativity and a strong understanding of flavor profiles. What are mocktails?

Mocktails are non-alcoholic beverages designed to mimic the taste and presentation of traditional cocktails, but without any alcohol content. They often use ingredients like fruit juices, herbs, syrups, and soda water to create complex and refreshing flavors. Job Title: Bartender — Neighbor's Bar at NCG Cinemas

Location: Lansing, MI

Job Type: Part-Time

Compensation: Michigan minimum wage + tips

Schedule: Varied shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays — aligned with theater showtimes

Age Requirement: Must be 21 or older

About Neighbor's Bar

Neighbor's Bar is the full-service lobby bar at NCG Cinemas – Lansing. We're not your average concession stand — we offer handcrafted cocktails, batched cocktails, frozen drinks, mocktails, dirty sodas, beer, and wine in a high-energy, guest-first environment. Every shift brings a new crowd of moviegoers ready to kick off their night, and we want bartenders who bring the energy to match.

This is a fast-paced, people-forward role. If you love making drinks, love talking to people, and love the idea of working in one of Lansing's most unique bar settings — we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Craft and serve cocktails, frozen drinks, mocktails, beer, and wine to guests at the bar
  • Actively engage guests approaching the lobby — suggestively sell drinks and hot food before they even reach the counter
  • Deliver drinks and food to the hot food pickup area as needed during your shift
  • Scan IDs using the provided ID scanner at every alcohol transaction — no exceptions
  • Operate the Vista POS system accurately for all transactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout your shift
  • Open and/or close the bar following established procedures
  • Complete weekly maintenance tasks including equipment cleaning and sanitizing
  • Assist with weekly inventory counts as directed by management
  • Communicate supply needs, equipment issues, or guest concerns to management

What We're Looking For

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Outgoing, confident, and guest-focused — you don't wait for guests to come to you
  • Prior bartending or bar service experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during show rushes and busy lobby periods
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and working evenings and weekends
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to responsible alcohol service

Certification Requirements

All bartenders complete required certifications during the first two days of employment, before performing any bartending shifts.

  • Responsible Alcohol Service certification (Rserving) — completed on company time, paid for by Neighbor's Bar
  • Bar Operations certification (Diageo Bar Academy) — completed on company time at no cost to you

Certifications must remain current throughout employment. No certification = no shift.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly wage plus tips
  • A one-of-a-kind work environment at NCG Cinemas
  • A growing bar program with room to develop your craft
  • Supportive team and clear expectations from day one
  • Free movies — enjoy the full NCG Cinemas experience on us
  • Discounts on concessions
