Job description

A Mobile Phlebotomist is a trained healthcare professional who travels to patients' homes, workplaces, or care facilities to collect blood samples, ensuring comfortable, safe, and efficient blood draws outside of traditional labs . They handle sample labeling, transportation, and proper disposal of medical waste while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specimen Collection: Perform venipuncture and capillary techniques to collect blood samples for lab tests.
  • Travel and Logistics: Travel to various locations—including private homes and Assisted Living Facilities—maintaining a safe, sanitized, and efficient, mobile work area. Must have cell phone for work related calls.
  • Sample Handling: Accurately label, store, and transport blood samples in accordance with lab protocols and health regulations.
  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients, verify identities, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety during the draw.
  • Administrative Duties: Must be able to print orders for work, maintain accurate patient records, complete documentation, and manage inventory of medical supplies.
  • Requirements and Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
  • Certification: Certification through organizations such as ASCP, NHA, or AMT is generally required.
  • Experience: Proven experience in phlebotomy (2 years experience).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency geriatric phlebotomy is a must.
  • License/Transportation: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance are essential.
  • Soft Skills: Strong, independent, detail-oriented, and excellent, empathetic customer service skills.
  • Background Check: Be able to pass background check level 2

Work Environment: Mobile phlebotomists often work flexible schedules, including early mornings, to accommodate patient needs. The job requires working independently, frequently driving between locations, and managing a high degree of daily, patient-facing responsibility

Company Description

We are a small lab that provides laboratory testing to our local community, as well as clients across the country. We are typically open from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. As we expand, we are flexible and looking to keep our days the same, but can expand our hours of testing for an earlier AM shift, or later evening shift. A PRN, Part Time MLT would be able to provide additional support to our testing staff and allow more flexibility with our testing. We are also open to a Full Time position depending on qualifications and experience. We have a new well appointed facility, with recent new up to date testing analyzers.
