Job description

Cardiac Medical Unit Registered Nurse

Schedule: Full-Time Nights | 36 hours per week

About Us - Stroke Unit (CMU): The cardiac medical unit is a 35-bed department consisting of multidisciplinary teams of RNs, LPNs, nurse technicians, and ancillary staff. We work together to provide compassionate patient care for stroke and dialysis patients. CMU serves Freeman and our community as the designated stroke floor to help maintain a Level II Stroke Accreditation. We serve a population of hemodynamically stable neuro-medical and renal patients. Our team culture is built on the Freeman Five Star Promise: Compassion, Communication, Teamwork, Ownership, and Professionalism.

What You'll Do: Working under the direction of, and in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director of CMU/TCU/SICU. Leads the team to provide appropriate care through use of nursing process in collaboration with established policy and institutional philosophy. Works jointly with Director, Charge Nurses, Physicians, and Staff to develop the department's mission, vision, values, goals, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse License or current registered nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse's state of residence.
  • If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass patient care orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
  • AHA ACLS within 120 days.
  • AHA BLS for healthcare providers within 60 days.
  • ALS - Advanced Stroke Life Support within 180 days.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 365 days.
  • RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.
  • Stroke CEU hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
