What this job involves: As a Mobile Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of institutional facilities across your assigned territory. Working closely with the Operations Manager and maintenance team, you will perform routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and building system upkeep that directly supports daily operations and community activities. This mobile position requires you to travel between multiple sites, responding efficiently to work orders while maintaining high service standards. You will handle diverse maintenance tasks spanning plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general building systems, ensuring each facility remains in excellent condition. This role demands technical versatility, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while remaining available for after-hours emergency response when needed.
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs including leak resolution, fixture maintenance, and clearing clogs to ensure proper water system functionality
  • Conduct electrical repairs such as replacing switches, outlets, and receptacles, and maintain lighting systems by replacing bulbs, ballasts, and fixtures
  • Complete carpentry tasks including door adjustments, hardware installation, cabinetry repairs, wall patching, and painting interior and exterior surfaces
  • Execute basic HVAC troubleshooting activities including thermostat adjustments, filter replacements, and resolving simple temperature or airflow issues as directed
  • Process and complete work orders through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) while meeting established service level agreements and response time requirements
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and preventive maintenance activities, identifying issues that require contractor involvement and reporting conditions impacting client operations
  • Coordinate daily service routes between multiple facilities using provided reports and systems to maximize operational efficiency and response time
  • Maintain assigned company vehicles in clean, safe operating condition and operate them safely while traveling throughout your assigned geographic territory
  • Perform snow and ice removal, clear debris or hazards, and ensure safe building access across all assigned facilities
  • Document maintenance activities, work performance, and materials usage while maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, compliant conditions

On-Call Requirements:
  • This role will require 24/7 on-call on a rotational basis

Physical Demand Requirements:
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs., use ladders up to 30 ft, and possess mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, and lifting
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written, with ability to represent the company professionally with clients

Required qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with relevant trade certifications as required by client scope or local jurisdiction
  • Minimum 3 years of general maintenance experience in commercial or institutional facilities
  • Valid driver's license with safe driving record and ability to drive company vehicles safely in various weather and traffic conditions, sometimes requiring long distance travel throughout designated portfolio.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and building systems with HVAC knowledge as required by client scope
  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency using computerized work order systems (CMMS) and basic tablet or mobile device applications
  • Strong commitment to meeting service level agreements, response time standards, and safety procedures

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working in commercial or institutional facilities with diverse building systems
  • Familiarity with specialized institutional facility systems
  • Availability for overnight travel when required to support facilities in extended geographic territories
