Requisition Summary

We are seeking a Customer Field Test (CFT) Engineer to support the Powertrain Validation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring all assigned North American powertrain field test, monitor field tests of new or modified components and be responsible for customer and dealer interface to assure correct component installation and maintenance. The position compiles results and assists in failure analysis. They will be on-call to support customer issues during off-shift hours, as well as working with customers and Service Dealers at their sites requiring up to 30% travel.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides excellence in engineering to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts moderately scoped projects with minimal supervision, including analyzing requests, defining requirements, and developing preliminary project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Designs test fixtures and specifies required instrumentation, equipment, vehicles, loading configurations, and data‑processing techniques, while also supporting test setup, verifying equipment readiness, and performing preliminary data checks.
  • Leads and participates in data collection, analysis, field testing, and development of new or improved test methodologies, ensuring accurate results and continuous improvement.
  • Prepares and presents reports, results, conclusions, recommendations, and performance or reliability observations to divisions or management as needed.
  • Fosters strong communication and productive working relationships across departments and with all levels of management.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent technical and communications skills
  • Experience coordinating technical work within and between organizations
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle technologies and customer usage patterns
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-directed and have demonstrated high levels of resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation
  • Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience preferred
Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Systems, or related discipline) required.
