Astrion is seeking an Advanced level Ground Test Analyst to support Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Theater-Based Defense Mobile Land-Based Sensors (TBS) Directorate. At Astrion, we are at the forefront of new missile defense technologies and support MDA’s rigorous operational and developmental testing. This exciting, rewarding work helps guarantee the security of the United States and our Allies. Join a professional team of highly qualified engineers, analysts, scientists, and technicians supporting the research, development, testing, and evaluation of the missile defense system whose purpose is to detect, track, engage, and destroy adversary missiles. 

Your typical day – Our MDA engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities on Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville, known as Rocket City, USA is the hub of missile and space operations, research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts – military, government civilians, and contractors from Astrion and other companies.  Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development, analysis and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems. You will be part of the team that conducts successful intercepts of target missiles by one of our Missile Defense System (MDS) weapon systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Currently Active Secret security clearance or the eligibility to obtain clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Research Analysis, Program Management or related fields
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with strong technical background and understanding of systems engineering/program management.
  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS) Ground Test environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10-20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

  • Master’s Degree or related experience
  • Current experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS) characteristics, design, performance, and testing
  • Military Experience or ability to operate and coordinate within the military community
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel and senior leadership

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Ground Test Analyst will provide direct support to the test organization (TBST) of the Theater-Based Defense Mobile Land-Based Sensors (TBS) Directorate. The individual provides the business knowledge and technical skills to support the test team in all aspects of Missile Defense System lab based or deployed ground tests to include: requirements, development, planning, execution, observation, analysis, and reporting. Ideal candidate will:

  • Support ground testing of the AN/TPY-2 along with additional radars expected to be added to the TBS portfolio at a later date
  • Provide support to radar flight tests as needed
  • Provide on-site support at deployed locations, acting as key test member of TBST
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and be comfortable in communicating and coordinating with the greater MDA test community, sensors program office personnel, system subject matter experts, and senior government management
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and be able to make proper and timely decisions and recommendations
