Job description

MGX Shop Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position reports to the Service Manager.ย 

Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service; and be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year. Relocation assistance may also be available to those who qualify.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.ย  Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
  • Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.
  • Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.ย 
  • Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.ย

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a full-time position with 1st shift hours.ย  Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.ย

PAY & TRAINING:

This position offers a pay range between $30.00 - $40.52 per hour depending on experience, skills and qualifications. Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday.ย 

A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician and provided within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.ย 

"This is a union-represented position with Operating Engineers Local No. 49. Compensation and working conditions are defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including structured wage rates.
