Job Description
Certified Registered Nurse Cardiology - Hospital Medicine is responsible for providing health care under physician supervision for the hospital medicine and critical care Cardiology departments while focusing on clinical outcomes and specific projects for those departments.
Job Relationships
Reports to the Operations Manager - Cardiology
Principal Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and implement management of patient care to a specific population under the direction of a Cardiology physician or advanced practice practitioner (APP).
  • Triage and management of all Halo/Symplr messages for the inpatient APP's.
  • Active management of patient lists, including identifying new consults, potential discharges, and visit prioritization.
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments and post-discharge testing.
  • Collaborate with INP APP's and coders/billers.

Other Responsibilities
  • Use. Athena and hospital EHR's.
  • Coordinating and completing discharge education.
  • Acting as a liaison between APPs, nursing, and care management.
  • Supporting care coordination and communication to improve throughput.
  • Work with home health agencies on all discharges as needed.
  • Participate in care conferences with physician and other health care professionals.
  • May work as Health Care Assistant according to hospital policy.
  • Assist with orientation and planning for new Cardiology inpatient providers or employees.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Graduate from an approved college/university in nursing required.
  • Two (2) years' experience in clinical specialty preferred.

Licenses/Certificates
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain one of the following certifications: Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (RN-BC) through ANCC or Cardiovascular Nursing Certification (CVRN-BC) through ABCM.

  • Normal office environment.
  • Sitting 20%, standing 80%.
