Job description

Airswift is currently looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer to work in Mobile, Alabama for a major chemical client for an initial 1-year contract with strong potential for long-term extension due to ongoing project work.
Based in Mobile, Alabama
Must have capability of working from home as well as in the office (Mobile)
Willing and able to travel 25-35% for project support (primarily Midwest and Gulf Coast)
40 hours/week (OT may be required)
Minimum qualifications
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering with recognized accredited program (ABET) in Civil or Structural Engineering
o Minimum 8 years relevant work experience
o
Must have working knowledge of structural design and be capable of performing and validating design calculations (technical capability will be assessed early in the assignment)
Preferred certifications:
โ€ข Prior experience working on small to mid-sized capital projects in industrial environments (chemical, plant, refinery, etc.) is required
โ€ข Prior experience as a Project Manager on single discipline projects preferred
โ€ข Prior experience as a CSA lead on capital projects is a plus
โ€ข Strong preference for candidates with a practical, execution-focused career path (hands-on, field-driven vs. research/PhD-level profiles)
โ€ข Ability to supervise or support engineering staff on industrial projects
โ€ข Ability to assemble and review bid packages for civil/structural work scopes
โ€ข Familiar with applicable engineering codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.) required
โ€ข Experience with civil/structural analysis software (RISA 3D & RISA Foundation preferred)
โ€ข Must be proficient with CAD software and Microsoft Office
โ€ข Has the ability to produce estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for project needs
โ€ข Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine efficient engineering solutions
โ€ข Must be able to perform field work to gather relevant project data and provide construction support
โ€ข Strong involvement across the full project lifecycle, including design, field support, and execution
โ€ข Ability to review calculations performed by other engineers to ensure code compliance and good engineering practices
