Job description

About the Role
As a CBRE Mobile HVAC Union Engineer, you will provide advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for commercial building systems, equipment, and facilities across multiple client locations. This role requires strong HVAC expertise, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional service to clients.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function. The team is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, repairs, and operational excellence for critical building systems and facility infrastructure.
In this mobile role, you will service a variety of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems while helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient building operations. You will also participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests when needed.
What You'll Do
  • Perform advanced preventive maintenance and complex corrective repairs on HVAC systems, building equipment, and facility infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and restore equipment and building systems to minimize operational downtime.
  • Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS) and overall building performance.
  • Inspect HVAC, plumbing, fire life safety, and mechanical systems to ensure equipment operates within design specifications and environmental requirements.
  • Utilize multiple skilled trades including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance to complete assigned work.
  • Review, prioritize, and complete work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including estimating labor, materials, and completion time.
  • Maintain energy management programs and support initiatives that improve building efficiency and system reliability.
  • Complete maintenance records, service documentation, and technical reports accurately and on time.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and coordinate additional resources when necessary to restore operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and share expertise with team members while demonstrating behaviors aligned with CBRE's RISE values.
What You'll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong experience servicing and troubleshooting commercial HVAC equipment such as RTUs, split systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, VAV systems, pumps, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Experience working with building automation systems (BAS) and building controls preferred.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience and the ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics preferred.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, stooping, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Prior shift lead, crew lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
