As an iOS Engineer on the Mobile team at Bitwarden, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the native iOS Bitwarden application, working with other teams to maintain feature parity across clients, and enabling your team and others to build secure, performant, and user-focused software.

This is an all-remote team and we\'re looking for someone located in the U.S. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become an expert and authority on our iOS codebase, with deep working knowledge across the team\'s domain
  • Refine, design, and implement large, complex initiatives in the iOS domain, coordinating with other teams when necessary
  • Handle intricate, multi-faceted technical problems with minimal supervision, often proposing unique solutions
  • Lead architectural discussions and present designs with clear trade-offs, partnering with your Tech Lead and Engineering Manager on architectural decisions
  • Investigate and resolve the most complex bugs in the domain
  • Provide comprehensive code reviews across the team\'s domain, identifying architectural and performance concerns and using reviews as teaching opportunities
  • Advocate for and influence technical standards around performance, scalability, and maintainability, helping establish best practices for the team
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to their career development
  • Take an active role in hiring, often leading technical interviews and assessments
  • Proactively identify technical debt and risks, plan mitigations, and communicate potential delays
  • Proactively stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies within the iOS development ecosystem, and contribute insights for the continuous improvement of our product
  • Occasionally contribute bug fixes or shepherd pull requests submitted by the user community

WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing complex iOS applications with Swift and SwiftUI
  • Strong understanding of iOS UI/UX design & architecture principles, including the ability to lead architectural discussions and weigh trade-offs
  • Familiarity with unit testing, UI testing, and snapshot testing
  • Experience using Claude Code, or a similar generative AI coding platform
  • Experience with iOS Extensions and TestFlight
  • Proven ability to work independently on ambiguous requirements, consulting with product and design to arrive at well-rounded solutions
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar through code reviews and knowledge sharing
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions (QA, Product, Design) and drive alignment across teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including clear documentation for complex concepts targeted to the appropriate audience
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset
  • Openness and authenticity combined with excellent communication skills
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and for better internet security
  • Excellent problem-solving skills - you might not know all the answers, but you know how to find and communicate the solution

In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $215,000.
