Position Summary
****This is an onsite position located in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Candidates should apply only if they are able to be physically present and available to work onsite by the start date****
St. Louis Community College (STLCC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Clinical Laboratory Technology (CLT) Program at the Wildwood campus. This position is a 10-12 month, benefits-eligible faculty appointment with additional leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will serve as the lead full-faculty member at the Wildwood campus, supporting program delivery, student success, and clinical partnerships, while working in close collaboration with the Department Chair and the Forest Park campus.
This role is central to the continued expansion and operational excellence of STLCC's NAACLS-accredited CLT program and will contribute to preparing highly competent entry-level medical laboratory professionals.
Primary Duties Performed
  • Teach didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical courses in Clinical Laboratory Technology, including but not limited to:
    • Clinical Chemistry
    • Hematology and Hemostasis
    • Immunology/Serology
    • Microbiology and Parasitology
  • Deliver instruction aligned with NAACLS standards and ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) competencies
  • Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to support diverse learners in both classroom and laboratory settings
  • Integrate clinical correlations and case-based learning into instruction
  • Support program growth initiatives, recruitment efforts, and community engagement
  • Provide academic advising, mentoring, and career guidance to CLT students
  • Monitor student progress and implement early intervention strategies to promote retention and success
  • Support students in preparation for ASCP certification examinations
  • Participate in curriculum development, revision, and assessment
  • Contribute to program outcomes tracking, including certification pass rates, retention, and job placement
  • Assist with accreditation processes, including compliance with NAACLS Standards
  • Maintain instructional materials, including Canvas LMS course shells and assessment tools
  • Maintain strong relationships with clinical affiliates and assist with coordination of clinical rotations
  • Participate in departmental, campus, and college-wide committees
  • Engage in professional development and scholarly activities consistent with faculty expectations

Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or closely related field (master's degree preferred)
  • Current certification as MLS(ASCP) or equivalent (e.g., AMT, AAB)
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical laboratory disciplines and instrumentation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills

Working Conditions
  • Master's degree in a related discipline (MLS, Education, Healthcare Administration, or similar)
  • Prior teaching or training experience in an MLT/MLS program
  • Familiarity with NAACLS accreditation standards and outcomes assessment
  • Experience with Canvas LMS or similar learning management systems
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical or academic setting
