Mlb Program information

What is an MLB Program?

An MLB Program typically refers to a structured initiative or set of programs organized by Major League Baseball (MLB) to promote the sport, support player development, or engage communities. These programs can include youth development camps, diversity and inclusion efforts, or international player academies. The goal of MLB Programs is to grow the game of baseball, identify and nurture talent, and make the sport accessible to a broader audience. Specific examples include the MLB Youth Academy, RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities), and various educational or outreach programs. Each program serves a unique purpose within the overall mission of MLB to foster love for the game and develop future generations of players and fans.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in MLB (Major League Baseball) program management roles?

Professionals in MLB program management often face the challenge of coordinating multiple stakeholders, including players, coaches, front office staff, and league officials, to ensure smooth execution of programs and initiatives. Balancing the logistical demands of a long season with the strategic goals of the organization requires strong organizational and communication skills. Additionally, adapting to rapidly changing schedules, player needs, and league regulations can be demanding, but it also provides opportunities for professional growth and learning within a dynamic sports environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an MLB Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an MLB Program Manager, you need strong project management abilities, a background in sports administration or business, and experience coordinating large-scale programs. Familiarity with project management software, CRM systems, and relevant certifications such as PMP or sports management credentials is typically expected. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills help you motivate teams and navigate complex stakeholder relationships. These skills ensure smooth program execution, effective collaboration, and the achievement of organizational goals within Major League Baseball operations.

Job description

We're looking for new team members to join FanDuel Sports Network, the nation's largest provider of live local sports.
As a local sports media platform, we're proud to be the local media partner for 29 MLB, NHL, and NBA teams, producing and delivering over 3,000 live games and events every year. Whether it's the heat of a playoff push or the excitement of Opening Day, we're all about delivering the moments that matter to hometown fans.
We're part of Main Street Sports Group, serving fans in regions across our 15 owned and operated networks. We combine powerful partnerships, cutting-edge streaming technology, and smart distribution to make sure fans can watch their teams how they want, whether that's through a direct-to-consumer streaming platform or major cable providers.
The Position:
The Inventory Analyst, Ad Sales plays a critical role in maximizing the value of FanDuel Sports Network's commercial inventory across live broadcasts and shoulder programming. Focused primarily on MLB, NBA, and NHL properties, this role ensures our ad inventory is forecasted accurately, sold efficiently, monetized strategically across both linear and digital platforms.
We have 2 positions available. 1 located in St. Louis, MO and the other can be located in Atlanta, GA or NYC.
The Game Plan:
(What you will do)
  • Track, analyze, and forecast advertising inventory across live sports broadcasts (MLB, NBA, NHL) and original programming across all RSNs.
  • Partner with Sales, Planning, and Programming teams to align inventory availability with content schedules and sales strategy.
  • Monitor sell-through rates, preemptions, and under/over-sold areas to support revenue maximization.
  • Identify revenue opportunities in shoulder programming, pre/post-game shows, and special events.
  • Support pricing strategies by providing data-driven insights on inventory demand, ratings performance, and market trends.
  • Maintain inventory management systems and dashboards (e.g., WideOrbit, Excel, Power BI) to ensure real-time accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the linear and digital ad ops teams to coordinate inventory across cable and streaming platforms.
  • Provide regular reporting and post-campaign analysis to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Stay informed on programming changes, league schedules, and playoff scenarios that may impact inventory.

The Stats:
(What to bring)
  • Proficiency in ad sales systems such as WideOrbit, Operative One, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills (pivot tables, x-lookups, modeling).
  • Familiarity with live sports schedules, seasonality, and local broadcast considerations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with live event pressure.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • A passion for local sports and fan-first media experiences.
  • Knowledge of ratings systems (e.g., Nielsen) and performance measurement tools.

Player Benefits:
  • Healthcare Benefits - Start 1st day of employment.
  • Wellness Program Incentive
  • 401K - Match up to 4%.
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Personal)
  • Company Holidays
  • Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Benefits
  • Employee Discounts

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual base compensation range for this role is $28 - $38/hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
FanDuel Sports Network, Independently Owned & Operated by Main Street Sports Group, is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
