Job description

This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

 The Information Desk is staffed 24/7/365. This role is an individual contributor that assists the Information Desk Manager with all aspects of the MTC Information Desk, including offering on-call coverage as needed.

This is an on-call role that does not have guaranteed hours and could include coverage for shifts overnight from 10:00pm-6:00am.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of both education and experience (4 years of full-time work or 8 years of part-time work)
  • Excellent public relations skills, including upholding policies with tact and sensitivity
  • Ability to handle stress and high-pressure situations, such as: receiving General Authorities, disgruntled customers, and emergency situations, including medical and emotional
  • Ability to learn MTC computer programs quickly
  • Good judgment regarding use of confidential information
  • Proven experience with multi-tasking in an office setting, including multiple phone lines
  • Flexibility with work schedule, including any shift in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year--including being available to work on holidays, weekends, and nights.

This position reports to the Mgr, Information Desk.

  • Hosts General Authorities and their families, Mission Presidents and their families, Missionary Department heads, visiting national and international dignitaries, official MTC visitors, and visiting public, maintaining always a high level of public relations sensitivity 
  • Assists missionaries, including acting as first contact in medical, mental, and emotional crisis management during and after normal operating hours and oversee security, distribution, inventory, and return of 40,000 building keys for incoming and outgoing missionaries, staff, and administrators 
  • Assists the Information Desk Manager in training new employees and in enforcing MTC policies and safety measures 
  • Provides special services to MTC administration and staff, particularly in a variety of emergencies, and threatening or safety issues; reports to security any observed activities which may threaten person, building, property, or operations. 
  • Maintains an orderly Information Desk work area and adequate supplies
