In some regions, Misericordia refers specifically to volunteer organizations that offer medical, emergency, and social services. These organizations are often staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to helping their communities through various forms of support and aid. The role of someone working for or volunteering with a Misericordia typically involves providing compassionate care and assistance to individuals facing difficult circumstances.
