Miscellaneous Metals Project Manager


Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Salary: $65,000 – $100,000 (Depending on Experience)
Location: Hanover or Richmond — Fully Remote option available with travel to job sites throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia as needed.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Flexibility required for overtime and occasional Saturdays as project demands dictate.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Miscellaneous Metals Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of steel fabrication and erection projects. This role oversees assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved while maintaining effective coordination across internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the fabrication and erection of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joists, and metal decking
  • Manage steel detailing and surveying activities
  • Review specifications and blueprints to determine material quantities, locations, and sizes
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules covering preconstruction, submittals, engineering, shop drawings, procurement, fabrication, shipping, erection, and closeout
  • Prepare, coordinate, review, and execute submittals, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, professional service agreements, and drawings
  • Prepare schedules of values and submit monthly project billings
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders, deducts, and proposals
  • Maintain positive working relationships with project stakeholders
  • Coordinate with other contractors to maintain schedules, manage material deliveries, and mitigate design conflicts
  • Coordinate steel packages with other trades through the BIM process and participate in clash detection
  • Issue corrective action notices to subcontractors when required
  • Maintain organized project documentation in both electronic and hard copy formats


Qualifications
  • 4+ years of project management experience, preferably in steel fabrication and/or erection
  • Prior experience managing commercial or industrial steel projects
  • 2–4 year post-secondary degree preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera preferred
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Knowledge of Tekla and Fabtrol is a plus
  • Strong understanding of steel construction materials, methods, and tools
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and cost control standards
  • Ability to apply job-related mathematics and perform field verification as needed


Work Environment
  • Exposure to construction environments including dust, welding fumes, paint fumes, and loud noise
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical hazards
  • Approximately 15% travel required (mileage reimbursement available)
