About the Opportunity

We are looking for experienced Senior Mirth Engineers to support a large-scale healthcare interface migration from a legacy integration engine to Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on complex HL7 interface conversion, technical decision-making, reusable framework development, testing support, and migration readiness. The right person will bring deep healthcare integration experience, strong Mirth Connect skills, and the ability to guide other engineers during a fast-moving platform migration.

This is a remote, U.S.-based contract opportunity expected to begin in early to mid-September 2026.

What You'll Do
  • Lead complex healthcare interface migration work from a legacy integration platform to Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect
  • Design, build, and validate Mirth Connect channels for HL7 interface workflows
  • Develop reusable transformation logic, shared frameworks, coding standards, and migration patterns
  • Review interface logic, mappings, routing rules, and transformation requirements
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex interface issues during migration, testing, and cutover
  • Provide guidance to conversion engineers working on assigned interface channels
  • Support cutover planning, migration readiness, testing coordination, and go-live activities
  • Troubleshoot interface discrepancies, message routing issues, transformation errors, and performance concerns
  • Support healthcare X12 EDI transaction interfaces where applicable
  • Work directly with client technical teams, delivery leads, QA resources, and integration stakeholders
  • Document interface specifications, mappings, migration decisions, technical risks, and resolution notes
  • Help ensure converted interfaces meet production-readiness expectations before cutover
What We're Looking For
  • 8 or more years of healthcare integration engineering experience
  • Hands-on production experience with Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect
  • Experience with Interfaceware Iguana strongly preferred
  • Strong HL7 v2.x messaging expertise, including ADT, ORU, ORM, SIU, and similar message types
  • JavaScript and/or Lua scripting proficiency
  • Experience supporting large-scale interface engine migrations, healthcare platform cutovers, or integration modernization projects
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex interface, mapping, transformation, and message flow issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with technical teams, delivery stakeholders, and client-side resources
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced contract environment
Preferred Background
  • Experience with X12 EDI healthcare claims transactions, including 837, 835, 270, and 271
  • Familiarity with FHIR
  • Experience in revenue cycle management, claims processing, hospital systems, payer systems, or healthcare IT environments
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or serving as a technical lead on a consulting or contract engagement
