Job Title: Underground Mining Project Manager

The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services USA has a great opportunity for an Alternate Project Manager to work at the mining project located in the northern part of Nevada.

Reporting to the Operations Manager or designated Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and accountability for underground hard rock mining operations, delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective development outcomes in strict accordance with statutory requirements and Barmincoโ€™s safety, operational, and performance standards, while supporting sustainable long-term mine planning objectives in the absence of Project Manager.

Location: 65 Miles outside of Elko, Nevada
Shift: 16 days on / 12 days off roster, 12 hours, 6:30am- 6:30pm

Accommodation: Individual rooms with ensuite at the mining camp; meals are provided. The camp is located approx. 25 minutes from the mine site; daily transportation between the camp and the mite site is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and enforce compliance withโ€ฏMSHA,โ€ฏsite regulations, and Barminco safety standards.
  • Promote andโ€ฏdemonstrateโ€ฏvisible safety leadership to achieve zero harm outcomes.
  • Implement andโ€ฏmaintainโ€ฏsafe systems of work, SOPs, and risk management processes.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory engagements and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Lead underground production and development activities including drilling, blasting, mucking, and ground support.
  • Deliver production and development targets in line with approvedโ€ฏmineโ€ฏplans.
  • Monitor and manage KPIs including development advance, equipmentโ€ฏutilization, and downtime.
  • Ensure effective workforce planning and supervision of supervisors, crews, and contractors.
  • Manage project costs in alignment with approved budgets.
  • Monitorโ€ฏlabor, equipment, and consumables to control cost.
  • Oversee procurement, resource allocation, and contractor performance.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor frontline supervisors and crews to build a high-performance team.
  • Promote Barminco values and principles in all operational activities.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain effective communication across departments and with senior leadership.
  • Prepare and deliverโ€ฏaccurateโ€ฏoperational and performance reports.
  • Provide detailed handover documentation to ensure seamless transition between rotations.
  • Identifyโ€ฏoperational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in underground mining, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Post-secondary education in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field-โ€ฏPreferredโ€ฏ
  • Valid Driverโ€™s Licenseโ€ฏ-โ€ฏRequiredโ€ฏ
  • Current MSHA Part 48โ€ฏ-โ€ฏRequiredโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • ATF Clearance or ability to obtain ATF Clearance-Required
  • Leadership and supervisory trainingโ€ฏ- Preferred
  • Experience in mechanized underground mining operationsโ€ฏ
  • Proven experience in high-speed mine development (gold, copper, nickel or similar)
  • Experience managing budgets, contractors, and cross-functional team
  • Financial acumen: must be able to prepare and deliver end of month progress claim to clients. Summary of chargeable work completed on a monthly basis.
  • Must be able to understand and prepare basic internal financial reports. Cost reports, EBIT calculations, quarterly or 3+9 budgets.โ€ฏ
  • Experience in regulatory inspections and audit processesโ€ฏ
  • Knowledge of ground control, ventilation, and mine servicesโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Understanding of mining software and operational reporting systems
  • Thorough knowledge of mining legislation and statutory complianceโ€ฏ
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management capability
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skillsโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Effective verbal and written communication skillsโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • High levelโ€ฏof organizational and time management skillsโ€ฏ
  • Proficiencyโ€ฏin Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams) โ€“โ€ฏPreferredโ€ฏ
  • Ability toโ€ฏoperateโ€ฏin a fast-paced, dynamic environmentโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Must be able to be respirator ready at all times while on shift.

Work Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Regular exposure to mobile heavy equipment, confined spaces, low-light conditions, airborne dust, diesel exhaust, vibration, and elevated noise levels.โ€ฏ
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism, leadership, and self-motivation.โ€ฏ
  • Compliance with all site-specific medical clearances, respirator fit testing, drug and alcohol policies, and fitness-for-duty standards.โ€ฏ
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move for extended periods on uneven, wet, muddy, or rocky ground surfaces throughout the shift.โ€ฏ
  • Capacity to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders and access ways in underground headings and development areas.โ€ฏ
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds unassisted; heavier loads handled with mechanical aids or team lifting procedures.โ€ฏ
  • Ability to push and pull equipment, ventilation ducting, hoses, and other materials during operational activities.โ€ฏ
  • Visual acuity adequate to distinguishโ€ฏcolorsโ€ฏ(for ground support,โ€ฏsignaling, and hazard identification), read instrumentation/markings, andโ€ฏoperateโ€ฏin low-light conditions.โ€ฏ
  • Auditory ability sufficient to hear alarms, equipment signals, and verbal instructions, and to communicate effectively in high-noise environments while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).โ€ฏ
  • Ability to do shift camp workโ€ฏ(minimum 12-hour days)-working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation-โ€ฏRequiredโ€ฏ
