Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Supply Chain & Contract Manager, leads the sourcing and contracting of a large variety of goods and services including capital equipment and support of all operational and administrative areas..  The Procurement Specialist will drive projects with contractors and suppliers at the Mesquite Mine and Castle Mountain Venture as well as coordination and interaction with other Equinox Gold locations that will occur in areas of commonality.   Performs special projects related to materials management and other duties as required.   

This team-oriented position will be based at Castle Mountain mine site, approximately 80 miles south of Henderson, Nevada with transportation assistance from surrounding areas to site and back. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute category strategies.
  • Negotiate and develop contracts from the RFP/RFQ through negotiations and review the final document.  Support user departments in the contract management process.
  • Provide guidance to others in the department with development of contracts, RFP’s and assist with large purchases.
  • Lead assigned sourcing and related projects, including projects to improve system efficiency.  Develop KPI’s for such projects.
  • Resolve contractor and supplier performance issues where needed to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop good working relationships with end-user departments.  Be a non-hierarchical team player, demonstrating collegiality when working with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  •  Minimum five years in supply chain, specifically in contracts and purchasing with warehouse experience or knowledge as a plus, preferably in mining, industrial, manufacturing, energy, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Manage competitive bid processes (RFP/RFQ/RFI)
  • Analyze supplier performance and spend
  • Identify cost savings opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Operations and Accounting
  • Mentor junior procurement staff
  • Travel to different site locations and supplier locations
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work autonomously. 
  • Organized, detail oriented, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, willing to obtain onsite and offsite (specific to Procurement) training when available, willing to pursue and/or maintain professional certification. 
  • CPSM or CPSP certification plus.

Certifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems required; SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and AI-enabled productivity tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Professional Certifications:

  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPSP (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite certification is preferred

Education: 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management or a business-related field, engineering or possessing equivalent experience. 

WorkingConditions:
Work is performed at an active mine site that may include open pit mining, processing facilities, leach pads, maintenance areas, and office environments. Employees may be exposed to extreme weather conditions associated with a desert climate, including high heat, cold temperatures, wind, dust, and occasional precipitation or flash flooding. Depending on the role, work areas may involve proximity to large mobile equipment, moving mechanical parts, blasting activities, noise, vibration, diesel exhaust fumes, chemicals, fuels, oils, airborne particles, or other industrial hazards typical of mining operations. Outdoor work on uneven or rough terrain is common for many roles. Employees may encounter desert wildlife and native plant life. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as determined by job duties, task hazards, and work location. PPE includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, and other PPE as determined by job task and location.

Physical Demands:
Manual dexterity; handling and grasping; fingering and fine motor skills; speaking clearly; hearing in speech, radio, and environmental ranges; seeing, reading, and comprehension; near and distant vision; depth perception. While performing job responsibilities, employees must be able to communicate effectively and maintain situational awareness in an active mining environment. Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or working on uneven surfaces. Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, controls, or computer systems is required. Specific physical demand requirements will be provided during the interview process. Employees may be required to work while wearing the required PPE, including respiratory and hearing protection. These requirements are representative, but not all‑inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required of the employee.

The annual pay range for this position starts at $88,516 - $118, 032 based on experience
