Position Summary: The Quality Control Manager is responsible for, but not limited to providing leadership on quality of work performed at project sites.

Responsibilities
  • The Quality Manager supports the project team from preconstruction planning through project completion.
  • Reviews drawings and submittals with the project team for conformance with project requirements.
  • Communicates regularly with Project Managers to provide quality control updates and advise of issues or problems that may affect progress.
  • Develop site-specific quality procedures and review with Project Engineer as necessary to support the project requirements.
  • Assist jobsite leadership with resolution of client complaints that are quality related.
  • Order and receive needed project materials and equipment as advised.
  • Coordinate and administer weekly quality meetings and/or identification of safety meeting elements relevant to quality.
  • Monitor quality practices daily, along with ongoing inspections to minimize the need for corrections and punch-list items.
  • Implement the delegated authority to stop work in the event of quality issues.
  • Provide direction to the Project Engineer on quality related items and maintain priority on critical path items necessary to keep the project schedule.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance with respect to timeliness, efficiency, and quality.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive quality control reports detailing inventory, calibration status, document control logs, ongoing and completed work items, weather conditions, and any emerging quality issues.
  • Provide weekly updates for as-built conditions and continual maintenance of safety logs.
  • Enforce and champion the requirements of the site quality program (including the processing of any required revisions) and other project quality and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure all project close-out documents are complete and submitted.
  • Act as a Lead Auditor to plan, perform, report quality audits of a variety of construction activities.
  • Perform physical inspection of a variety of discipline activities which may include but not limited to; piping, civil, concrete, fixed and rotating equipment, electrical, control systems, coatings, insulation, and non-destructive testing.
  • Performs additional assignments per Division Manager's request.

Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency with all necessary technological tools, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint , and Outlook with the ability to use other software as necessary.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA rules, regulations and reporting processes and procedures for Civil, Project and Mining applications.
  • Ability to professionally represent the Company when dealing with external organizations, regulatory bodies and with all organizational levels internally.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage at all levels in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to exercise good business judgment and common sense when making recommendations and decision.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in an environment where numerous tasks and projects are occurring simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the Company at jobsites and Corporate office, and effectively deal with vendors, clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, subcontractors and vendors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Quality Manager in Heavy Construction and Project environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Works in an office environment at the Corporate office or in the field.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures in the field - hot and cold.
  • May be exposed to chemicals, refuse and dirt from jobsites.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to other risks associated with working around heavy machines, tools and trucks.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Must have and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License with driving record that meets Saiia's risk management guidelines.

TRAVEL:
  • This position travels to various site locations. Estimated travel requirement 25% of time.
