To thrive in a Mining Apprenticeship, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, strong physical stamina, attention to safety, and a willingness to learn hands-on mining techniques. Apprentices often receive training in the use of mining equipment, safety protocols, and may require certifications such as a White Card or MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) certification, depending on the location. Reliability, teamwork, and effective communication are key soft skills that help apprentices integrate seamlessly into teams and follow instructions carefully. These skills are crucial for maintaining a safe work environment, minimizing risks, and ensuring productivity in the demanding conditions of the mining industry.

What can I expect from the typical work environment during a mining apprenticeship?

As a mining apprentice, you can expect to work in physically demanding environments that may include underground mines, open-pit sites, or processing plants, often exposed to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions. Apprentices usually work as part of a team under the supervision of experienced miners or supervisors, where safety is a top priority and adherence to strict protocols is essential. Your daily tasks will combine hands-on training, operating equipment, and participating in routine safety drills. This environment provides valuable learning opportunities and prepares you for a rewarding and well-compensated career in mining.

Job description

Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place.
YOUR IMPACT
You will join a dynamic team at the forefront of technological innovation within the Metals & Mining practice.
You will work in small, highly collaborative agile teams, using modern technologies to deliver high-impact solutions. You will contribute to both rapid prototypes and full-scale enterprise applications, seeing the direct business impact of your work from day one. Our teams combine open-source technologies, enterprise platforms, and AI-enabled capabilities to build scalable, cost-effective systems. You will collaborate closely with system architects, development managers, and consultants to deliver intelligent web-based and mobile applications that meet business goals, taking a leading role in shaping our technical direction and integrating cutting-edge Generative AI capabilities to create industry-shaping products.
You'll join the team in the Wroclaw or Lisbon office. We are open to consider application on different levels: Software Engineer, Senior SE or Principal SE.
We are currently executing our MineSpans 2.0 vision, which aims to embed Generative AI across our data processes to completely transform how we ingest, transform, discover, consume, and provide clients with data and insights. We are also extending this vision to the entire Metals & Mining practice, aiming to rewire the practice by leveraging the latest AI developments.
YOUR GROWTH
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues-at all levels-will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won't find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
  • Continuous learning: Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. The real magic happens when you take the input from others to heart and embrace the fast-paced learning experience, owning your journey.
  • A voice that matters: From day one, we value your ideas and contributions. You'll make a tangible impact by offering innovative ideas and practical solutions, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity. We not only encourage diverse perspectives, but they are critical in driving us toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Global community: With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions for our clients. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • World-class benefits: On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package to enable holistic well-being for you and your family.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with strong proficiency in languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript
  • Proven experience developing full-stack applications with back-end (e.g., Node.js, Spring), front-end (e.g., AngularJS), and database (Relational and Non-relational) technologies
  • Hands-on experience integrating Generative AI models (LLMs) to build features like conversational agents, intelligent search (RAG), and content generation, with a strong understanding of prompt engineering and model orchestration
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices (e.g., DRY, TDD), with experience in trade-off analysis for complex systems
  • Significant experience with web services (REST, SOAP), cloud platforms, microservices architecture, and DevOps tooling, including CI/CD and automated testing
  • First-hand experience working with Agile methodologies and a commitment to engineering excellence, scalability, and maintainability
  • A self-starter mindset with an entrepreneurial approach, strong analytical abilities, and a passion for technology and AI-driven transformation
