Job description

Overview
At Mojang Studios, the creators of Minecraft, we are on a mission to build a better world through the power of play.
Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It's the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.
We enable millions to create and play together, connect people across the globe, and foster a community that is among the most active and passionate in the world. Our community is global and incredibly diverse. When we are developing anything within our franchise, we keep this in mind. We want everyone to not only feel included in Minecraft, but also to see themselves in what we make. Our goal is for the Mojang Studios team to be as diverse as our community.
Join the Minecraft marketing technology team as a Software Engineer II to build the services layer that powers marketing measurement, attribution, and player engagement for Minecraft. Minecraft reaches hundreds of millions of players across mobile, console, and PC, and the systems behind that reach need to be reliable, privacy-conscious, and ready for global scale.
You'll work with marketing and analytics teams to build services and data systems that support our campaign and measurement goals. The team owns existing infrastructure for delivering in-app, push, and email messaging to players, and we're expanding that scope into new areas such as ad attribution, using a modern cloud and data stack with integrations across internal services and third-party marketing platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate features within cloud services that support Minecraft marketing campaign delivery, measurement, and ad attribution.
  • Develop solid partnerships with marketing and business teams. Build web-based tools empowering them to send engaging campaigns and measure results.
  • Collaborate broadly with other engineering teams to improve client UI, services, and data pipelines to deliver and measure end-to-end experiences across each player's purchasing and play journey.
  • Understand Minecraft's commitments to player privacy and protection for a global audience that includes players of all ages and incorporate those commitments into the services, data flows, and integrations we build.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience writing and operating cloud web services, preferably with .NET and Azure
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses and related technologies such as Databricks or Azure Data Factory
  • Experience working with mobile marketing and customer engagement platforms, with an understanding of campaign orchestration, user lifecycle management, attribution, and analytics; exposure to tools such as AppsFlyer, Braze, or comparable platforms is beneficial
  • Experience working with mobile, console, or PC entertainment

In the end, it's the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you'll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals - all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it!
