Job OverviewRocky Mountain Dam is seeking a journey-level Hydroelectric Millwright to install, maintain, repair, and align our heavy mechanical power generation equipment. You will lead the teardown and reassembly of massive rotating components, perform precision laser alignments, and execute critical rigging operations inside our powerhouses.Key Responsibilities

  • Turbine Maintenance: Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild large hydro turbines, wicket gates, main shaft seals, and thrust/guide bearings.
  • Precision Alignment: Use micrometers, dial indicators, and laser alignment tools to set vertical and horizontal shafts within tight OEM tolerances.
  • Heavy Rigging: Safely rig, sling, and direct crane lifts for heavy machinery components inside tight turbine pits and generator housings.
  • Preventive Checks: Monitor equipment performance, record data, change seals, and service auxiliary systems like governors and cooling pumps.
  • Emergency Repairs: Troubleshoot unexpected mechanical failures rapidly to minimize plant downtime and ensure grid stability.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Certification: Completed Journeyman Millwright apprenticeship or 4+ years of equivalent heavy industrial mechanical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read complex engineering blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and technical manufacturing manuals.
