Job description

CGC Inc. is a leading marketer, manufacturer and distributor of gypsum wallboard products, interior finishing material and suspended acoustical ceilings. With locations around the world, CGC and USG have the resources, plants, products, and people to build walls, ceilings, and careers.

CGC Inc. Is currently recruiting a Mechanical Foreman for our Wheatland, Alberta plant.

Role & Responsibilities:

· Train and maintain a highly skilled workforce to ensure an efficient operation, consistent with overall company objectives.

· Oversee ~9 employees within the department.

· Incorporate safety in all aspects of the maintenance department and ensure that safe working conditions, actions, and practices are adhered to and meet all CGC, Provincial, Federal requirements and expectations.

· Responsible for facilitating a safe work culture and is accountable for the safety of the department.

· Responsible for ensuring employees apply the standards for safe working conditions and are fit for work each day.

· Responsible for supporting the operator rate program, including evaluating and recommending rate advances.

· Support and demonstrate a culture of Continuous Improvement that is consistent with the expectations of CGC and the Wheatland Plant including consistent use and development of CI Tools such as Reflection Boards/Meetings, CI Cards, Area Boards and consistent Gemba walks.

· Responsible for efficiently leading the completion of daily maintenance activities necessary for the operation of equipment.

· Provide timely and responsible coaching, (formal / Informal), to direct employees in a constructive manner with the intent of positive outcome.

· Maintain integrity of the Plant RPM program focused on the successful prioritization of all scheduled work to meet the best interests of the plant and our customers.

· Plan and supervise work determining methods of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment and work schedules.

· Assume responsibility for productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and performance to be compliant with specifications, schedules, and budgets.

· Accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets standards.

· Assist with the administration of the RPM program.

· Identify other training needs for the department and facilitate the delivery of that training.

· Know, understand, and communicate compliance with all company policies and procedures.

· Recognize, address, and resolve any issues/problems within the department.

· Accountable for any administrative requirements of the position or as requested by the Maintenance General Foreman and/or the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements:

· Journeyman Millwright, Mechanical, or equivalent ticket is required.

· Demonstratable leadership, communication (verbal and written), decision making, and soft skills.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Able to communicate with all levels of the organization.

· Capable of delivering training one-on-one and in group settings.

· Strong computer skills.

· Must be able to maintain positive relationships and seek to achieve conflict resolution for self and reports in a timely manner and with positive intent.

· Must be willing to provide accountable feedback to reports/peers/supervisor in a timely and respectful manner with the intentions of positive outcomes that are in the best interest of the company.

· Establish and maintain open communications with peers across USG and CGC to establish and share best practices.

· Periodic travel may be required (US/CAN)

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
