Job description

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Grande Prairie OSB is currently recruiting for a Certified Millwright or 3rd or 4th Year Millwright Apprentice position.

Reporting to the Mechanical Team Lead, the Certified Millwright or Apprentice is a key member of our Maintenance Team – ensuring the safe & reliable repair of process equipment and effective preventative maintenance practices

You’ll Do:

  • Demonstrate 100% commitment towards completing all tasks safely
  • Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulics involved in the OSB manufacturing process.
  • Trouble shoot and problem solve items impacting process equipment
  • Active involvement with predictive and preventative maintenance to increase reliability
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.
  • Execute safe lifts using hoisting, rigging, slings & shackles and use of aerial lift platform
  • Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders.
  • Participate in effective housekeeping to ensure clean & organized work areas

 You have:

  • Red Seal Millwright certification, or a Millwright Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 3rd or 4th year
  • Preference given to individuals with millwright experiences in a manufacturing environment – ability to complete light fabrication & welding tasks is an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong work planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Trades and Team Members
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and developing computer skills
  • Relentless commitment to safe work practices
