To thrive as a Milliner, you need strong design skills, attention to detail, and expertise in costume or fashion construction, often supported by formal training in millinery or fashion design. Familiarity with specialized tools like wooden hat blocks, industrial sewing machines, and knowledge of materials such as felt, straw, and trims is essential. These abilities are crucial for producing high-quality, innovative headwear that meets clients’ expectations and keeps up with fashion trends.
