Costume Shop Specialist/Seamstress

Job Type: Seasonal
Pay Rate: $16/ hr.

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

Responsibilities:

Fiesta Texas is looking for a Costume Shop Specialist with demonstrated experience in costume craftwork. This Costume Shop Specialist should be able to perform minor alterations, and assist with all aspects of costume care and production.  Previous experience with laundry, wigs, make-up, costume accessories, costume character fabrication, and shoes preferred.

Project assistance:

  • Assist in day to day operation of show and park costume area including deliveries, pick-ups, trouble shooting, and communication.
  • Write and update checklists, laundry sheets, and size chart logs.
  • Assist in development and implementation of back area safety programs.
  • Assist production with performers backstage costume changes as needed

Costume care:

  • Provide specialized millinery services for costume pieces that are usually custom-made and require special cleaning/ handling.
  • Hand and machine altering.
  • Hand and commercial laundering.
  • Design new or alter costumes as required by production personnel.
  • Works closely with production personnel to ensure proper design and construction of costumes.
  • Responsible for fittings and measurements of performers.
  • Pattern cutting, alterations and sewing of costumes.
  • Contribute ideas and information for costume assembly.

Operation of specialized equipment:

  • Industrial steam irons.
  • Industrial sewing machines.
  • Washer & dryers.

HOW YOU WILL DO IT:

  • Operation of specialized equipment.
  • Utilize industrial steam irons, sewing machines, washers, dryers and park vehicles.
  • Responsible for daily delivery and pick-up of costumes, character costumes, and pieces.
  • Dressing the entertainers during quick costume changes throughout performances.
  • Pack costume/accessories for delivery and storage in an organized manner.
  • Write and update show checklists, laundry sheets, and size chart logs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of special requests.
  • Assist with other millinery duties.
  • Proper storage of all costume shop related items.
  • Performs functions to support the Costume Production Supervisor, full-time supervisors, and manager.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver license and the ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Supports department operations.
  • Works on special projects and other ad-hoc requests as assigned.
  • Must be available to work late nights when needed, as well as holidays and weekends.

 OTHER NOTES:

  • Reports to Entertainment Supervisors and Coordinators
