Job Summary

The Crew Leader assists in the overseeing of MINTEQ's day to day operation in the customer's shop. ย This includes covering for the Shop Supervisor during absences, assisting the Shop Supervisor with day to day duties, and, in some cases, directly supervising a team in a separate sub-operation in a shop.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Independently performs all duties of Shop Supervisor in their absence.ย 

At all other times assists Shop Supervisor with regular duties.

Performance management and training:

  • Safety โ€“ Actively participate in our on-going safety culture which include the following:
    • Follow All Safety Requirements of the Host Mill
    • Clarity Net
    • Near Miss Reporting
    • Risk Assessment
    • Stop Card Program
  • Control of labor hours
  • Maintenance of equipment and inventory management
  • Tracking and management of spare parts consumption
  • Maintaining a strong focus on satisfying the customer
  • In certain instances:ย  directly supervise a work team that handles a separate product line, such as in the LMF area

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: ย 

Progressive experience in Steel Mill Service positions, previous steel-making or other related experience.ย  Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity and electronics, personal computer, and lasers.ย  Thorough knowledge of Company products, applications and equipment.ย  Outstanding technical, mechanical, leadership/influence, and performance management, plus strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, adaptability, ability to learn quickly and work independently, initiative, integrity, customer and quality focus, decision-making, analysis and judgment/problem-solving, safety awareness and planning and organizing.

Education: A high school diploma is required.

Working Conditions:

Ability to lift to 50 pounds (or more in certain shops).ย  Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects.ย  Must be able to gather, organize and analyze data, draw conclusions, evaluate performance and handle a high level of stress.ย  May require working rotating shifts, emergency call outs, and overtime.ย  Must be able to operate equipment such as forklift, shooter, gun, caster equipment, wire feeder, laser, SEQUAD, etc.ย  May be required to travel.ย  May be required to relocate for a future Shop Supervisor opening.

Safety Equipment: Must wear all required safety gear.ย
